Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to join our dynamic Eastern Canada team. In this customer-facing role, you will leverage your technical expertise in FPGAs, MCUs, Networking, and Analog to drive design wins and revenue growth. You will collaborate closely with a strong local team, engage with customers to solve complex problems, and present innovative solutions that showcase Microchip’s cutting-edge technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive design wins to revenue by providing technical leadership and hands-on support for Microchip’s FPGA, Analog, MCU, and Networking product lines.
- Collaborate with sales, engineering, and product management teams to identify customer needs, propose solutions, and support the design-in process.
- Engage directly with customers to understand requirements, present solutions, troubleshoot issues, and deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and training.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customer engineering teams, serving as a trusted advisor and technical resource throughout pre-sales and post-sales activities.
- Relay customer feedback to internal teams to influence product roadmaps and resolve complex technical challenges.
- Stay current with industry trends, competitor products, and emerging technologies to provide strategic input to customers and internal teams.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior FAEs and other team members.
- Travel within Eastern Canada to meet with customers, attend events, and support field activities
Requirements/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in field applications engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical role.
- Deep expertise in FPGAs and Networking; experience with Analog and MCUs is a strong asset.
- Experience with embedded Linux or Zephyr operating systems is a plus.
- Optional knowledge of embedded security concepts and solutions.
- Demonstrated success in customer-facing roles, including technical presentations and problem-solving.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a high-performing team.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly within the region and outside the region for training.
- Deep technical expertise in relevant product domains (e.g., semiconductors, embedded systems, RF, power electronics, etc.).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex technical challenges.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Skills
- Experience designing with FPGAs, MCUs, Networking, or Analog Circuits
- Working in cross-functional teams in a global environment.
- Prior experience in customer-facing roles with a proven track record of successful project support.
- Familiarity with industry-standard design tools and simulation software.
Travel Time 25% - 50%
Pay Range We offer a total compensation package that ranks among the best in the industry. It consists of competitive base pay, restricted stock units, and quarterly bonus payments. In addition to these components, our package includes health benefits that begin day one, retirement savings plans, and an industry leading IESPP program with a 6-month look back feature. Benefits of working at Microchip
The annual base salary range for this position is $145,000 - $197,000.*
- Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
