About the Opportunity Are you passionate about global trade, logistics, and building high-performing teams? We are seeking an experienced Manager, Business Services & Logistics to lead international shipping, customs compliance, and trade operations for a well-established organization. In this leadership role, you'll help ensure the efficient movement of goods across international borders while navigating complex regulatory requirements and supporting operational excellence. Working closely with cross-functional teams, customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, and regulatory agencies, you'll play a key role in optimizing logistics processes, managing risk, and driving continuous improvement. Your Responsibilities

  • You'll lead a team of six logistics and trade professionals, providing coaching, performance management, and ongoing development.
  • You'll oversee all import and export activities, ensuring compliance with Canadian, U.S., and international customs regulations, trade laws, and shipping requirements.
  • You'll manage relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, and logistics providers while negotiating competitive freight, brokerage, and shipping costs.
  • You'll ensure import/export documentation, customs declarations, HS classifications, tariff codes, duties, taxes, and regulatory filings are accurate and compliant.
  • You'll monitor evolving trade legislation, sanctions, tariffs, and customs requirements, implementing process improvements to strengthen compliance and reduce risk.
  • You'll collaborate with Finance, Internal Audit, Legal, and business partners to support audits, investigations, regulatory inquiries, and continuous operational improvement.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in international import/export operations, customs compliance, and global logistics.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Logistics, Customs & Trade, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian, U.S., and international customs regulations, import/export requirements, tariffs, duties, taxation, free trade agreements, and country-of-origin requirements.
  • Experience managing import/export documentation, customs compliance, audits, regulatory investigations, cargo insurance, and international shipping processes.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and negotiating freight, brokerage, and logistics costs.
  • Professional designation such as SCMP, CPA, CIA, or enrolment in a related designation program is considered a strong asset.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, negotiation, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with previous leadership experience or demonstrated leadership potential.
