Job Summary

The Information Services Technician ensures the proper functionality of the information services systems. In consultation with the Information Services Coordinator, school and board staff, the Technician contributes to the efficient support of information services, maintains network and server applications, and ensures the reliability and sustainability of information and communication resources.

Education

  • A Diploma from a two (2) year community college program in computer studies, or a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science
  • CompTIA A+ certification an asset
  • CompTIA Network+ certification an asset

Skill, Ability and Experience Requirements

  • Ability to work to strict timelines – often under pressure
  • Effective customer service and collaborative skills, including ability to work successfully in a team environment and independently.
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge of and experience in working with Microsoft Software Platforms and applications (ie. Azure, Windows Server, Windows Client, and Office Suite, etc.)
  • Knowledge of and experience in working with Mobile Device Management Systems such as Microsoft Intune
  • Knowledge of and experience deploying endpoints using Microsoft Azure Endpoint Manager
  • Experience in the maintenance, repair, installation and use of computer hardware and software
  • Experience in the installation and troubleshooting of networking hardware, including LAN cabling installation, WLAN, switch, network printers (TCP/IP)
  • AV Theatre Support experience
  • Provide technical support and operational assistance for audio-visual equipment during school events, meetings, and special functions.
  • Experience in the setup, configuration, and maintenance of Apple devices
  • Experience in the setup, configuration, and maintenance of Audio Visual (A/V) equipment, including projectors, displays, speakers, microphones, and related control systems
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision
  • Physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess own vehicle and a valid driver's license, have an acceptable driving record, and personal insurance coverage
  • Ability to work overtime and change working hours to suit the needs of project work and maintenance windows

Compensation:

Salary as per the current COPE collective agreement

Pay Rate: $30.07 - $35.87
