About the role
Your Opportunity: The Acute Services Units within the Adult Inpatient Program at The Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury provide comprehensive assessment, treatment, and stabilization services to individuals 18-64 years of age who have a severe and persistent mental illness and/or are experiencing an acute mental health crisis and/or addiction illness. You will report to the Unit Manager or designate Manager. The Registered Psychiatric Nurse / Registered Nurse – Rundle House will provide direct nursing care following the full scope of practice as set out by the College of Alberta Registered Nurses and/or College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses Alberta and the Health Professions Act. The Registered Psychiatric Nurse / Registered Nurse will have a strong foundation in mental health and addictions. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team, with due consideration provided for family and appropriate others. You will ensure the effective operation of the unit when assuming designated responsibilities and contribute to the learning experience of students, staff, and patients. As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Psychiatric Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Psychiatric Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(a)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications: As Required.
Preferred Qualifications: Keen observation and communication skills, along with the ability to work effectively as a team player. Experience in a Mental Health environment is a definite asset.
