Job Description Union: Non-Union

Site: Toronto General Hospital & Toronto Western Hospital

Department: Surgical Program, Anesthesia

Work Model: On-Site

Reports to: Manager, Anesthesia Clinical Services

Hours: Variable

Shifts: Weekdays and Weekends; 8, 10, or 12 hour shifts

Status: Casual

Closing Date: December 31, 2025

Duties

  • Performs daily routine anesthesia and respiratory equipment checks, and troubleshoots, as required
  • Performs essential preventative and corrective maintenance/repairs on anesthesia and respiratory equipment
  • Stock operating rooms and remote areas where anesthesia provides services with Anesthesia and respiratory equipment including sensors, supplies and cables
  • Keeps track of inventory and ordering supplies, maintaining adequate stock of anesthesia and respiratory supplies

Qualifications

  • At minimum, completion of high school with diploma
  • Completion of a recognized post-secondary Electronics Technician program or Medical Device Reprocessing/Medical Device Sterilization Program, preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year practical and related experience in a health care setting, working with respiratory therapy equipment, preferred
  • Experience with electronic supply ordering system, such as EREQ preferred
  • Computer proficiency
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and other relevant legislation, an asset
  • Knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (W.H.M.I.S.), an asset
  • Knowledge of applicable Hospital and departmental policies, procedures, guidelines, protocols and practices, preferred
  • Standard First Aid/ Basic Rescuer Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (C.P.R.) certification, an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and collaborate as an active participant with others in assisting with the delivery of care to patients
  • Ability to perform responsibilities in a courteous manner
  • Ability to maintain and protect patient confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, an asset
