We are a group of outpatient clinics specializing in opioid substitution therapies. We are looking for counsellor in our Surrey location. Take this opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary team working towards helping individuals with addiction issues.

YOUR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The counsellor is responsible to conduct intake assessments & complete various paperwork during the orientation and assessment process.
  • Attend to walk-in patients and provide fast track access to get the patient on the program as soon as possible - We are following strict Covid-19 Rules with physical distancing.
  • Orient patient to program guidelines
  • Book appointments for short term counselling sessions as required by the patient/physician
  • Provide appropriate referrals to patients to access other support services as per treatment plan
  • Doing interventions and respond to patient emergencies using approved crisis/emergency intervention approaches and reporting such incidents to the patient’s physician and manager
  • Follow the principles of quality file documentation as outlined in policy and procedure
  • Providing appropriate support when requested by clinic manager & support staff with certain duties which would assist the physician in a proactive patient case management.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE:

  • Degree or Diploma in drug & alcohol counselling with minimum 1 year experience
  • Provision of a recent and acceptable Criminal Reference Check.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification is an asset.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong communication skills demonstrating compassion and empathy
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written English language skills
  • Professional manner and ability to take personal initiative
  • Personal commitment to wellness and demonstrated interest in the field
  • Must be flexible and drive to different clinic locations as needed
