The successful candidate may be involved in engineering activities such as topographical surveys, construction layout, site inspections, producing AutoCad drawings, reports, and perform other office or field related duties as assigned.
Preferred candidates will have the ability to perform basic calculations from field note data and read, interpret, and use topographic maps and design drawings; understand basic survey and CAD computer applications; follow established safety procedures and safely utilize equipment to perform specified job duties; communicate clearly and work well with others; and keep work sites and equipment clean and in an orderly fashion.
Deployment to other duties may be required from time to time.
Required Skills, Qualifications and Abilities:
- Registered as a full-time, post-secondary student in the field of civil engineering at an accredited institution during the current academic year (2025-2026) and returning to school full-time in the upcoming academic year (2026-2027). Proof of enrolment will be required and can be included as part of your application package.
- Previous experience in engineering surveying would be an asset.
- Working knowledge of software programs (AutoCAD, Microsoft Word and Excel).
- Independence of judgment and capability of working with minimal supervision.
- The position may be physically demanding; candidate must be able to successfully perform all duties associated with the position. A medical certificate attesting to suitability for this position may be required.
- Possession and maintenance of a valid Class 7 or "N" Driver's License at minimum; a satisfactory current driver's abstract will be required. Your drivers' abstract can also be included as part of your application package. Call ICBC at 1-800-663-3051 or go online at icbc.com for a free copy.
This is a unionized position (CUPE Local 358) and the collective agreement may be viewed on our website. This position will receive an additional 6% pay in lieu of vacation.
Candidates being considered will be required to undergo a comprehensive evaluation of skills, qualifications, and abilities.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a police information check.
