Multimatic Technical Centre (MTC), located in heart of Multimatic’s Markham, Ontario campus, provides advanced design engineering, simulation, and testing to Multimatic’s manufacturing divisions, automotive OEMs, and motorsports organizations. Co-located with Multimatic’s prototype manufacturing and Motorsports team enables industry leading rapid development cycles through strong collaboration.
The Role
Multimatic’s Mechanisms Engineering team is looking for talented Senior Design Engineers to help create innovative solutions for the world’s leading OEMs. Our team develops everything from Side Door Hinges to advanced motion systems, including Active Aerodynamic devices and PowerDoor™ actuators. In this role, you’ll take automotive components from concept through to high-volume production, ensuring they meet performance, cost, and manufacturability targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive continuous improvement in design process and product performance
- Generating innovative design concepts to satisfy OEM customer requirements
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models, drawings with GD&T, and engineering documentation such as DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, tolerance stack-ups and other engineering calculations
- Lead product development through defining and reviewing virtual and physical validation studies
- Work in close partnership with program management, process and quality teams at Multimatic’s manufacturing divisions to support DFM, DFA, and VA/VE activities.
- Collaborate with Multimatic’s Electronics and Software teams to deliver integrated solutions for powered mechanisms
- Hands-on assembly of new design concepts to support prototype builds, testing, and validation
- Communicate directly with customers to understand technical requirements, provide design solutions and program updates
- Provide technical mentorship to support knowledge sharing
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline
- 8+ years of progressive experience in automotive component design
- Proven leadership of major programs from concept development through production release
- Demonstrated track record of driving and executing key product and technology initiatives
- Advanced proficiency in 3D modeling and 2D GD&T documentation (CATIA or NX preferred)
- Deep expertise in kinematics, materials selection, and design for high-volume manufacturing and assembly
- Experience defining and validating product requirements, including DVP&R development and execution
- Strong background in product risk assessment methodologies, including DFMEA
- Led structured root cause analysis and implemented corrective actions
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities with strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional environments
- Genuine passion for mechanical design and the automotive industry
