##Job Information
The Specialist, Facility-Based Addictions Treatment (Specialist) conducts research, analyses data and provides recommendations on issues related to the delivery of specialized out-of-territory treatment services in the NWT. The Specialist will be required to manage a high volume of applications daily. Many of these are urgent and involve complex care situations, necessitating support for case managers and health providers in coordinating care and services for individuals with mental health issues, criminal backgrounds, significant social challenges etc. The nature of this work involves handling sensitive and distressing information.
Through the use of planning, monitoring and evaluation techniques, the incumbent ensures that specialized addiction treatment services meet the needs of NWT residents. Working closely with the Health and Social Service Authorities, the position is accountable for the planning, monitoring, implementation and/or refinement of services and for the promotion of services that are consistent with the Integrated Service Delivery Model.
This position provides leadership in the monitoring of the program, identification of opportunities and challenges, including risk management and makes recommendations for improvements and mitigation tactics. The Specialist is the expert on the program within the HSS system across the Territory and is responsible to manage the facility contracts to ensure quality of services and that processes are aligned with program standards and procedures as well as contract terms and conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advice on specialized facility-based addiction treatment (FBAT) programming and developing and foster positive working relationships with HSS Authorities, NGOs, Indigenous and Community based organizations and other stakeholders. Oversee the safe delivery of specialized FBAT to territory residents.
- Provide advice on specialized facility-based addiction treatment (FBAT) programming and developing and foster positive working relationships with HSS Authorities, NGOs, Indigenous and Community based organizations and other stakeholders. Oversee the safe delivery of specialized FBAT to territory residents.
- Manage financial and contract operations for the specialized Facility-Based Addictions Treatment Program.
- Lead the investigation and oversight of FBAT programming, ensuring the safe delivery of care to NWT residents which aligns with the Department priorities
Qualifications Required
- A degree in a health-related field, and three (3) years of relevant experience including one (1) year of case management and financial management experience.
- Health-related fields may include:
- Mental health, addictions and/or social work
- Relevant case management experience may include:
- Front line experience in mental health and addictions, navigating HSS systems/programs, harm reduction.
