As a Data Protection Engineer , you will be responsible for designing and implementing robust security frameworks that safeguard organizational data against internal and external threats. In this role, you will lead initiatives for data discovery and classification, deploy advanced Data Loss Prevention (DLP) strategies, and ensure sensitive information is accurately identified, monitored, and protected across all environments.
What you'll do:
- Design and govern Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) architectures. Develop and maintain data security frameworks, architecture & AI standards.
- Implement and maintain data protection technologies. Deploy and manage platforms such as Data Security Posture Management (DSPM), and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) to safeguard sensitive data across systems and networks.
- Lead data discovery and classification efforts. Identify and categorize data based on sensitivity and regulatory requirements, and AI readiness to ensure appropriate protection measures are applied and that data is prepared for secure and effective use in AI-driven processes.
- Monitor data movement and respond to security incidents. Investigate anomalies and policy violations promptly.
- Establish a working group to recommend controls and policies. Enable effective governance, DLP and prevent unauthorized data exposure.
- Ensure compliance with privacy and geographical regulations. Support GDPR, Quebec Law 25, California CCPA, and PCI requirements, etc.
What you have:
- 3–5 years of experience in data security, cybersecurity, or records management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.
- Certifications preferred: DSPM Fundamentals, CISSP, CCSP.
- Strong understanding of data discovery, classification, and access control mechanisms.
- Familiarity with privacy regulations (GDPR, Quebec Law 25, etc.) and records management principles.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

The typical hiring range for this position is $90,000 - $115,000 annually complemented by a bonus plan; the base pay is determined by market location and job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education.
