This position works in the Bonsor Community Centre. This is advisory and instructional work in a specific program area of the Fine Arts Program. The Fine Arts Leader assists in program development and evaluation, and provides instruction in a specific Fine Arts area such as visual arts, ceramics, theatre, dance, preschool to seniors, etc. The work may involve responsibility for providing guidance to Auxiliary and Contract Instructors and/or the operation of a studio or related facility and instructs classes within program specialty. May supervise and schedule the daily use of a studio or workshop, assist in general promotion of departmental activities, and prepares promotional material. This position exercises considerable independent action and judgement in performing the work, receiving general supervision from a superior who evaluates work performance in terms of assistance rendered, conformance with established guidelines and the achievement of desired objectives. Prepares and maintains records, and report on equipment and supply inventories. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include completion of a two-year Community College course in a Fine Arts speciality including courses in teaching and some related instruction experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Sound knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, tools, and materials applicable to the appropriate program area; sound knowledge of community needs, interests and resources. Ability to assist in the development and evaluation of programs and assist in the planning, implementation and coordination of program classes; ability to display and teach skills and/or encourage participation; ability to assist in the selection, training and evaluation of Auxiliary and Contract Instructors and in the promotion of program activities. A valid Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required. Please note that a Police Information Check may be required for this position.

SALARY: $5,212 – 5,419 – 5,645 – 5,882 – 6,127/month (2026 Rates)

$4,865 – 5,060 – 5,270 – 5,491 – 5,719/month (2024 Rates)

SCHEDULE: 70 hours biweekly; Wednesday to Friday from 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM; Saturday & Sunday from 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (Mutual Agreement between Wednesday to Sunday, 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM)

This is a temporary full time position until December 31, 2026.
