About the role

The Director, Vendor Management will play a critical role in establishing and advancing the VMO function across the organization. Initially reporting to the CFO, the Director will set the strategic vision for the VMO and lead the development and execution of sourcing, procurement, and vendor governance practices.

This role is currently an individual contributor position with the potential to evolve into a leadership role in the future. The successful candidate will act as a Center of Excellence (CoE), driving policy standardization, governance frameworks, and best practices in collaboration with legal, finance, and operational teams. They will establish the foundation for the Vendor Management Office (VMO) by advancing centralized procurement practices, enhancing vendor performance management, and ensuring value realization across key spend categories. Over time, this individual may have the opportunity to build and lead a high-performing VMO team as organizational needs grow. The role requires strong subject matter expertise in procurement and vendor lifecycle management, along with the ability to influence, collaborate, and drive change across the organization.

The Director, Vendor Management Office (VMO) will:

  • Define and lead the strategic direction of the VMO, aligning with enterprise goals and transformation initiatives.
  • Help shape and support the future development of a procurement and vendor management team, with potential to take on leadership responsibilities as the function grows.
  • Contribute to team initiatives and forums by sharing input, expertise, and feedback.
  • Establish governance structures, sourcing policies, and standardized RFx and contract templates in partnership with Legal and Compliance.
  • Lead the development and execution of sourcing, category management, and vendor relationship strategies that drive efficiency, innovation, and cost optimization.
  • Manage the source-to-contract process for selected categories, with the aim of gradually expanding centralized spend management.
  • Partner with business units to identify sourcing opportunities, manage vendor risk, and promote vendor accountability through performance metrics and SLAs.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on vendor lifecycle management, supplier diversity, and procurement technology enablement.
  • Develop and report on KPIs for vendor performance, cost savings, and vendor consolidation targets.
  • Stay abreast of market trends, regulatory changes, and innovations in supplier management to continuously improve procurement and vendor operations.

To be successful as a Director, Vendor Management at People Corporation, you will need:

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in procurement, sourcing, vendor management, or supply chain management.
  • 5+ year of experience leading a team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Commerce, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Professional designations such as SCMP (Supply Chain Management Professional) or PMP (Project Management Professional) are strong assets
  • Bilingualism in English and French is considered a strong asset

  • Change Agility: Resilient and adaptable, with a proven ability to navigate and drive organizational change
