Position Overview: Finning Canada is seeking a Global Digital Workplace Management Engineer to support and advance our digital workplace capabilities across the organization. We’re seeking a senior engineer who can architect, implement, and operate a secure, performant, and cost-optimized Citrix/VDI service that supports a global, hybrid workforce and mission-critical applications.

Working closely with the Service Owner, the Global Digital Workplace Management Engineer will play a key role in enhancing existing services, designing and delivering new digital workplace use-case services, and partnering with the business on related initiatives and projects. The role requires a strong balance of technical expertise, architectural thinking, and stakeholder collaboration to ensure technology solutions effectively support business outcomes.

  • For this position, the expected salary range is between $100,000 and $120,000 annually. This range reflects our commitment to providing competitive compensation that aligns with industry standards and your qualifications.

Job Description: Major Job Responsibilities:

  • Support and operate a broad range of Digital Workplace Management (DWM) services, including Microsoft 365, endpoint management, VDI/Citrix and enterprise file and print platforms.
  • Provide day-to-day operational support across Microsoft Intune (Windows, iOS, Android), including device configuration, application deployment, compliance policies, and troubleshooting.
  • Support Microsoft 365 services such as Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Microsoft Teams from a platform and service-operations perspective, including mail flow issues, collaboration configuration, retention, and lifecycle management.
  • Support enterprise file, print, and managed file transfer services, including file shares, print servers, and SFTP solutions, covering user onboarding, access management, and issue resolution.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and low-code automations to improve operational efficiency across digital workplace services, including user lifecycle, device management, compliance workflows, and reporting.
  • Participate in incident response, problem management, and root-cause analysis across supported platforms, contributing to permanent fixes and service improvements.
  • Create and maintain runbooks, operational documentation, and knowledge articles to reduce single points of failure and improve team resilience.
  • Collaborate closely with security, identity, networking, and platform specialists to support governance, security controls, and compliance requirements.

Mandatory (Must-Have) Skills:

  • Proven experience supporting enterprise digital workplace or end-user computing services across multiple platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune for endpoint and mobile device management.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Practical experience supporting Citrix VDI or similar virtual desktop environments at an operational level (user support, troubleshooting, service operations).
  • Experience supporting file services, print services, or managed file transfer/SFTP platforms in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong PowerShell scripting skills for administration, automation, and operational tooling.
  • Solid understanding of identity and access concepts such as Entra ID, RBAC, and Conditional Access, sufficient to support day-to-day operations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work across multiple technologies and escalate appropriately to subject matter experts.

Preferred (Non-Mandatory) Skills:

  • Experience with Power Platform components such as Power Automate, Power Apps, or Logic Apps.
  • Exposure to endpoint security tooling, vulnerability management, or privileged access management solutions.
  • Familiarity with hybrid or cloud storage platforms (for example NetApp or cloud-based file services).
  • Basic familiarity with Citrix Cloud, Azure-hosted workloads, or virtual desktop infrastructure beyond user-level support.
  • Experience supporting compliance-driven environments, including audit support, retention policies, or PCI-related workflows.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, experience presenting and explaining complex architecture concepts to non-technical users
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills — including the ability to effectively communicate technology usability and risk-related concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
