About the role

About the Company

At ENGCOMP, we're trailblazers — curious, driven, and always seeking a better way forward. As a trusted multi-disciplinary engineering firm serving Canada's heavy industrial market, we tackle complex projects across Saskatchewan and Alberta, delivering innovative solutions from conceptual design all the way through to detailed engineering. Our clients span some of Canada's most demanding industries — potash, uranium, oil and gas, pulp and paper, chemical processing, and food processing — and they count on us to get it right. Our work spans the full project lifecycle: risk analysis, cost estimating, planning, engineering coordination, schedule management, and computer task automation. If you're someone who takes calculated risks, thinks critically, and wants to do meaningful work that moves the needle — you'll fit right in here.

About the Role

The Strategy & Corporate Analyst reports directly to the President and operates as a dedicated extension of the President's execution capacity. The role is responsible for coordinating and advancing strategic initiatives, developing high-quality strategic documents, and delivering quantitative and economic modelling that supports both internal decision-making and client-facing engagements. This is not a chief-of-staff role and does not carry authority over the executive team; authority derives from proximity to the President and clarity of mandate.

In addition to advancing the President's strategic agenda, the Strategic Analyst supports business development through the preparation of proposals, business cases, and investment materials, and helps structure partnerships, joint ventures, and stakeholder relationships. By heavily leveraging AI and automation and maintaining a high standard of analytical rigour, the Strategic Analyst ensures that strategic work is executed efficiently and to a standard suitable for clients, partners, and investors. Ultimately, this position exists to convert strategic opportunity into delivered outcomes that would not otherwise advance at the pace those opportunities demand.

Primary Areas of Responsibility

Strategic Initiative Management Coordinate and advance a portfolio of strategic initiatives on behalf of the President, maintaining tracking systems and clear status reporting. Organize meeting plans, capture decisions and action items, and drive cross-functional follow-through. Flag stalled or at-risk initiatives early and recommend corrective action.

Strategic Document Development Draft proposals, partnership frameworks, investment summaries, business plans, and strategic plans, from outline through to client-ready output. Iterate with the President and leadership to refine messaging, structure, and supporting analysis. Ensure documents meet a standard suitable for clients, partners, and investors with minimal rework.

Business & Economic Modelling Build and maintain financial models, scenario analyses, and decision-support tools for internal decision-making. Run sensitivity and scenario testing, and translate model outputs into clear, actionable recommendations. Support internal financial analysis as directed.

Quantitative Modelling Services (Client-Facing) Scope and deliver, or co-deliver, economic models, cost and schedule range analysis (CSRA / Monte Carlo), and risk analysis engagements. Provide strategic decision consulting and strategic planning support to clients. Present methods and results to clients and stakeholders in a clear, decision-ready format.

Partnership & Stakeholder Support Support the structuring of partnerships, joint ventures, and investment frameworks, including First Nations partnerships and corporate deals. Prepare partnership materials and analysis to support negotiation and decision-making. Help maintain key external relationships with partners and stakeholders.

AI & Automation Leverage Heavily leverage AI tools across all analytical, modelling, and document work. Identify repeatable workflows and design or implement automation to improve execution efficiency. Share tooling, prompts, and best practices across the team.

General Responsibilities Prepare or provide input into proposals, business cases, and estimates for strategic opportunities. Maintain and support key external relationships with clients, partners, and Indigenous and corporate stakeholders. Update job knowledge through professional development, industry publications, and professional networks. Operate with a high degree of independence, taking outcome-level direction and determining the path to delivery. Identify and implement AI and automation opportunities to improve execution efficiency across the team. Follow Engcomp policies and procedures related to project execution and communication with clients.

Qualifications and Skills

Sound commercial and business judgment, including familiarity with partnership, joint-venture, and investment structuring would be an asset. Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including financial, economic, and simulation-based modelling (scenario, sensitivity, and Monte Carlo / cost-and-schedule range analysis) would be an asset. Demonstrated project management ability, with the capacity to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to produce proposals, business cases, and strategic documents to a client-ready standard with guidance initially from the President and independently within 6 months of starting. Confident client-facing presence, with the ability to scope engagements and present methods and results to clients, partners, and investors with guidance initially from the President and independently within 6 months of starting. Strong interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills, including support for partnerships and external relationships. High fluency with AI tools and a demonstrated ability to leverage automation to improve efficiency, or be willing to learn and invest personal time in getting to this level quickly. Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development at work and on personal time.

Key Knowledge and Experience

4–6 years of experience in business analysis, strategy, consulting, or a quantitative modelling role, supported by a strong quantitative and economic-modelling foundation, is required; exceptional candidates with less experience but a strong track record will be considered. Familiarity with Engcomp's business and prior company context would be considered a strong asset. Experience with cost and schedule range analysis (CSRA / Monte Carlo), decision-support modelling, and the structuring of partnerships or joint ventures would also be an asset. Exposure to the consulting field, and to the mining or heavy industrial sectors, is beneficial given the nature of Engcomp's client base.
