Role Overview

We’re looking for a Director, People & Culture to join our leadership team and shape the next phase of our employee experience and organizational development. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll lead the evolution of our people programs, systems, and culture to support a growing, globally distributed team. You’ll manage a team of six across Canada and India, providing leadership, mentorship, and alignment across core People & Culture functions.

This role requires a strong ability to align people initiatives with business goals, foster leadership cohesion, and build trust across the organization.

What You Will Do

Culture & Organizational Strategy

  • Champion a values-driven culture across global teams, fostering connection, engagement, and retention.
  • Partner with the CEO and executive team to align people strategy with long-term business goals.
  • Build and reinforce cultural consistency through people practices, systems, and programs that support a growing, distributed organization.
  • Commitment to elevating the employee experience, tapping into ongoing and various feedback and benchmarks for a continuous improvement approach.

People Operations & Systems

  • Lead and optimize core HR systems—including performance management, compensation, and feedback tools.
  • Evolve total rewards approach—including benchmarking, benefits, and engagement metrics—by leveraging data and employee feedback to drive sustainable improvements in people systems and employee experience.
  • Maintain clear, up-to-date policies and frameworks that reflect company values and support consistency.
  • Ensure scalable tech-enabled processes for reviews, goal-setting, and HR operations.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Equip managers with knowledge, skills, training and tools to build and maintain high performing teams.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior leaders on important topics like compensation, performance, and team dynamics.
  • Lead succession planning exercises and retention of key talent through proactive actions.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Drive workforce planning, role design, and organizational modeling to support business growth.

  • Strengthen employer brand and candidate experience through aligned, scalable hiring strategies.

What You Bring

  • 15+ years in People & Culture, including 5+ years leading teams and strategic initiatives

  • Experience in tech/SaaS environments, ideally within scaling organizations (100–200 employees)

  • Proven success in workforce planning, performance management, compensation, and leadership development

  • Deep expertise in recruitment infrastructure, onboarding, and talent development

  • Proficiency with HRIS, ATS, survey platforms, and people analytics tools

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to create and execute a people strategy to organizational goals

Compensation & Benefits

At Binary Stream, we recognize the importance of competitive compensation. We benchmark annually against Canada’s tech sector to ensure our salary ranges remain current and compelling.

Base Salary Hiring Range: $125,000 - $158,000 CAD

This range reflects the starting compensation for new hires in a full-time capacity. Final offers are based on experience, skill set, and the unique value you bring. In exceptional cases, compensation above this range may be considered.

Annual Performance-Based Bonus:

Employees are eligible for an annual performance-based bonus that reflects both individual performance and company-wide results.
