About the role
Systems Administrator 35 Hours Per Week - 12 Month Position - Full Time (1.0 FTE) Effective: Immediately; Duration: Permanent Existing Vacancy: Yes Qualifications
- Successful completion of a two year community college diploma program in computer systems technology, or equivalent.
- A minimum of 5 years of related work experience. Preference given to candidates with experience supporting and implementing corporate application servers .
- Detailed knowledge in the application and support of the FirstClass Communication System, BAS2000, Isysworks and VSphere
- Detailed knowledge of computer architecture and Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows Server 2003/2008 and Active Directory.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to function effectively with administrators, school staff, departmental staff and outside agencies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing skills.
- Strong commitment to the use of technology in education.
- Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple assignments/projects with similar deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Self-motivated learner with the ability to learn emerging technologies, software and trends.
- Must have reliable transportation to travel to various sites within the Board.
- Ability to perform required physical tasks, including lifting computer related equipment.
- Must be flexible and determined to resolve issues.
- Ability to troubleshoot, answer questions and provide training.
- Flexibility for the work day to time shift for scheduled maintenance activities or emergencies
Duties/Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and complete all maintenance, and patches of all corporate application and data center servers (e.g. Domain, VM, SQL, File, etc.)
- Provide setup, settings and configuration of the following corporate applications
- BAS2000
- Successmaker
- Isysworks
- ICOD
- Firstclass
- VMWare
- PDPlace
- Support and maintenance of the Board Storage Area Network and Virtualized Server environment.
- Provide server level support and maintenance for the corporate email system and the enterprise spam/virus filtering device.
- Assist with the development, maintenance and execution of the Disaster Recovery Plan, and determining best practices and execution of data center backups.
- Implement best practices for Active Directory Services, Group Policies and User Management.
- Configure and support corporate mobile devices and their integration with the Board’s email system.
- Work with Board Consultants to create and implement desktop images for distribution to Board computers.
- Provide system level support for Board Computer Technicians.
- Work closely with the Board Data Integrator to ensure continuity of application server and corporate databases.
- Provide primary backup support to Board Network Administrator.
- Maintain and manage the Board corporate application and data center servers with respect to security including but not limited to software, hardware, access permissions, audit assistance and findings as well as documentation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager of Information Technology
