About the role
##Position Summary...
The Manager, Aviation Maintenance supports the oversight and execution of all maintenance activities for Walmart Canada’s aircraft fleet. This position ensures aircraft are maintained in an airworthy condition, in full compliance with Transport Canada regulations (CAR 604), manufacturer requirements, and Walmart Aviation’s operational standards.
Working under the direction of the Senior Manager, Aviation Maintenance (Person Responsible for Maintenance – PRM), this role is responsible for coordinating, performing, documenting, and managing day-to-day maintenance activities. The Manager ensures all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company policies, OEM guidance, and regulatory standards.
##What you'll do...
Maintenance Operations & Technical Execution
- Perform, plan, and document all inspections, maintenance, and repairs in accordance with Transport Canada requirements and Walmart Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Troubleshoot, repair, and test complex jet aircraft systems, including engines, avionics, and structural components.
- Conduct aircraft inspections by reviewing logbook entries, verifying compliance in maintenance tracking software (Veryon), and ensuring all required maintenance actions are completed before return to service.
- Perform and approve aircraft fueling, oil servicing, and replenishment of consumables in accordance with manufacturer and safety standards.
- Maintain and verify the authenticity, airworthiness, and traceability of all parts, tools, and materials prior to installation.
- Maintain aircraft weight and balance data, ensuring timely updates following maintenance activity.
- Oversee vendor work and off-site maintenance, ensuring proper documentation and quality control.
- Personally inspect and approve all “independent/dual inspection” items prior to aircraft release.
Regulatory Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all work performed complies with Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), company manuals, and applicable maintenance standards.
- Support the Senior Manager/PRM in preparing and maintaining the Maintenance Schedule Approval (MSA) and Minimum Equipment List (MEL).
- Maintain all technical publications, Airworthiness Directives (ADs), and Service Bulletins (SBs), ensuring current revisions are applied.
- Audit and update computerized tracking systems to ensure aircraft and component data accuracy.
- Ensure required entries are properly recorded in journey logs, technical logs, and permanent maintenance records.
- Participate in internal and external audits (Aerofoil Consulting, Transport Canada), ensuring full compliance and documentation accuracy.
Quality Assurance & Safety
- Ensure safe maintenance practices are followed for all company aircraft operations.
- Participate in the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) and Quality Assurance (QA) programs, identifying and reporting hazards or irregularities.
- Support CAP (Corrective Action Plan) implementation and assist with root cause analysis of maintenance findings.
- Maintain fuel quality by performing inspections and testing for contaminants and anti-icing additives as required.
- Conduct tool and parts inspections, ensuring calibration and airworthiness requirements are met.
Coordination & Operational Support
- Coordinate with flight operations and scheduling to ensure aircraft readiness and maintenance planning align with operational needs.
- Communicate effectively with pilots and dispatchers regarding aircraft status, upcoming maintenance, and open discrepancies.
- Support and manage AOG (Aircraft on Ground) recovery efforts, including short-notice travel to support off-site maintenance.
- Be present for aircraft departures and arrivals when possible, providing direct support to flight crews.
- Coordinate transient maintenance providers and ensure maintenance performed outside of base meets Walmart’s QA standards.
Administrative Responsibilities

Maintain up-to-date technical library and electronic documentation for all aircraft systems and subsystems.

Review invoices for maintenance services, validate accuracy, and recommend approvals within delegated authority.

Support departmental budgeting, tracking maintenance costs, and forecasting expenditures.

Qualifications
- Approved Transport Canada AME License.
- 4 -7 years’ experience as a licensed aircraft technician.
- 1-2 year of supervisory experience.
- 3+ years of experience maintaining complex jet aircraft is an asset.
- Airframe and Powerplant license.
- Familiarization with aircraft operated by Walmart Aviation is an asset
- Familiarization with aviation tracking software is an asset.
The pay range for this position is $91,900.00 - $126,390.00. Pay will be determined based on relevant experience.
