Position Description
Reporting to the Executive Director, Sport, Culture & Major Events, the Sales Operations Coordinator will support the team in promoting Calgary as the premier destination to host sport, culture and major events in our city. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the tactical execution of our strategy, supporting the Account Managers and serving as a vital link between Tourism Calgary clients and Calgary’s sport, arts and hotel community.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and analyze the Sport profile within Tourism Calgary's Customer Relationship Management Software. Ensure ongoing updates, augmentation, tracking, and reporting requirements associated with the database.
- Communicate lead activity with hotel and venue partners to ensure seamless coordination and follow-up.
- Assist the Account Managers through research, strategic positioning, economic impact reports and the creation of bid books.
- Assist Account Managers with market research initiatives to identify and qualify potential business prospects across various markets.
- Prepare detailed reports for analysis, including lead generation, conversion rates, economic impact, post event reporting.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with industry partners and clients to ensure successful execution of partnered initiatives.
- Work closely with the various departments within Tourism Calgary to align efforts and meet organizational goals.
- Act as an exemplary ambassador for Tourism Calgary at all industry events.
- Perform administration and other duties as assigned to support the overall function of the team.
Qualifications
- 2 -3 years of related experience, with preference given to experience working within the sport, event sales or hospitality industry.
- A practical understanding of customer service and the needs and expectations of clients.
- Strong knowledge of the product, services and support available in Calgary and the immediate area.
- Experience in conducting research, database management and client services is considered an asset.
- Diploma or degree in related discipline is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency required with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience working with Customer Relationship Management software is preferred.
- High level of professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information.
- Demonstrated effectiveness working independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility in changing or shifting priorities and deadlines.
- Highly motivated and results oriented.
- Passionate about promoting Calgary as a top destination for hosting sport, culture and major events.
Working Conditions
- This is a hybrid home/office position that requires daytime availability from 9am-5pm Monday-Friday. Required in-office days are Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday at Tourism Calgary’s downtown office.
- This role requires occasional evening or weekend work during peak event periods.
- To work remotely, candidate must have private high-speed internet and a quiet, ergonomic place to work. Laptop is provided.
