The Role: What You’ll Do
As Manager, Freight Audit, you will lead the end-to-end freight audit and payment function across a vast enterprise transportation network. You will be accountable for ensuring accurate freight cost validation, driving overcharge recoveries, strengthening internal controls, and delivering high-level insights that improve transportation spend visibility and operational efficiency. Freight Audit & Payment Leadership: Own the full freight audit lifecycle (invoice validation, approval, discrepancy management) across inbound and outbound transportation modes (TL, LTL, parcel, intermodal). Financial Controls & Compliance: Establish robust audit controls and governance to support internal/external audits, SOX requirements, and corporate financial policies. Partner with Finance on accrual accuracy and variance analysis. Data & Continuous Improvement: Analyze freight spend trends and discrepancies to identify cost-saving opportunities. Develop dashboards and KPIs (Excel, Power BI) to translate complex data into executive-level insights. Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Act as a key partner to Transportation, Logistics, and Finance teams. Manage relationships with external freight audit providers and carriers, supporting upcoming contract negotiations with data-driven dispute history. People Leadership: Mentor, coach, and develop a dedicated team of freight audit professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
What You Bring
Education: Post-secondary education in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related field (CPA, CMA, or supply chain designations are considered a strong asset). Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in freight audit, transportation finance, logistics, or supply chain analytics. Leadership: 7+ years of proven people leadership and team development experience. Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in data analysis/reporting tools (Excel, Power BI, etc.) and hands-on experience with TMS and freight audit/payment platforms. Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of transportation rate structures and carrier contracts. Soft Skills: Clear, confident communication style with the ability to influence cross-functional partners and navigate complex matrix environments. What’s in it for You?
