Job Summary & Key Responsibilities
GWST 2110.03 Special Topics in Gender & Women’s Studies, Online-Asynchronous (SUMMER (B1): July 6, 2026 – July 27, 2026) .
The part-time academic’s duties include responsibility for planning the course in conjunction with the Coordinator, teaching the class, evaluating the students, holding regular office hours, and administration relating to the class. As an asynchronous summer course, the instructor will prepare and deliver 36 hours of instruction across three weeks, or 12 hours per week, perhaps 3 hours per day of pre-recorded lectures, activities, evaluations. The part-time academic must be available 2 hours per week for consultation with students. This position will report to the Coordinator of Gender and Women’s Studies. This course has an enrolment of up to 100 students.
Note: This class may have teaching assistant support depending on enrolment.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position
Master’s or Doctorate in Gender and Women’s Studies (or equivalent professional experience) and demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the university level through experience in course instruction in various capacities. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of queer and feminist theory, particularly from an intersectional approach, and knowledge of theories of media, communication, and pop culture, demonstrated through teaching and/or research experience. Evidence of effective online teaching is an asset.

All offers of employment as a part-time academic are conditional upon sufficient student enrolment in the course and approval by the University.
