Position Title: Product Owner, Digital Identity
Status: Full-Time Administration
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Faculty/Department: Information Technology Services
Campus/Location: North Campus – must be comfortable working hybrid, a minimum of four (4) days on-site.
Starting Salary Range: $105,342 - $117,577; starting salaries are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience.*

About the Product Owner - Digital Identity Role:
Under the general direction of the ITS Associate Director, the Product Owner, Digital Identity is responsible for leading the Digital Identity product, working directly with Product Sponsors across Humber to define its vision, shape its roadmap, and deliver measurable business value. You will own the product roadmap end to end, ensuring priorities are clear, outcomes are intentional, and delivery aligns with organizational goals. You will act as the primary point of accountability between business and technology, ensuring alignment from strategy through delivery and guiding the team toward high-quality, reliable solutions. You will oversee both delivery and operations, balancing new capabilities with stability, performance, and user adoption. Ultimately, you are accountable for ensuring the product continuously evolves to meet the institution’s identity, access, and security needs.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the Digital Identity product by defining and evolving its vision, strategy, and roadmap in alignment with organizational goals and product sponsor priorities.

Partner closely with Product Sponsors to shape the product direction, validate outcomes, and ensure realization of business value.

Own and manage the product backlog, making informed decisions on priorities, scope, and trade-offs to ensure alignment with product strategy and organizational goals.

Translate identity and access management needs into clear, outcome-focused product backlog items.

Drive delivery by aligning priorities, dependencies, and team capacity to ensure consistent and high-quality outcomes.

Oversee the operation of Digital Identity services, ensuring stability, reliability, and alignment with user and business needs.

Monitor product performance, adoption, and operational health, using insights to continuously improve the product and inform roadmap decisions.

Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, acting as the primary bridge between business and technology teams.

Manage risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs, ensuring informed decision making and timely resolution of delivery and operational challenges.

Provide clear, outcome-focused communication to leadership and stakeholders to support transparency and alignment.

Collaborate across product teams to ensure alignment of priorities, dependencies, and shared capabilities, proactively addressing cross product impacts and enabling cohesive, end to end solutions.

Education
Bachelor’s degree (required) or college diploma plus equivalent industry experience; Master’s (is considered an asset).
Experience/Skills

Experience working with or supporting digital identity, access management, or related capabilities within enterprise systems, with an understanding of how identities are created, managed, and governed across their lifecycle.

- At least five years of experience leading and managing complex, enterprise level digital products within a product management model, including ownership of product backlog, roadmap, and value delivery.

- Experience delivering products in large, multi-stakeholder environments, with the ability to navigate organizational complexity and drive alignment across business and technology teams.

- Experience working in post-secondary education or the broader public sector is considered an asset.

- Strong experience operating within a product management model, including backlog ownership, roadmap planning, and value driven prioritization.

- Proven ability to partner with senior stakeholders and Product Sponsors to define strategy and deliver measurable outcomes.

- Experience translating business needs into actionable product backlog items and guiding delivery teams toward effective solutions.

- Demonstrated ability to balance new feature delivery with operational needs such as maintenance, support, and continuous improvement.

- Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to use data and feedback to guide product direction.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across both technical and business audiences.

- Experience working with modern work management tools to manage backlog, track progress, and support transparent delivery.

- Ability to communicate product strategy, priorities, and performance to executive stakeholders in a clear, concise, and decision-focused manner.

Understanding of identity and access management concepts, including lifecycle management, authentication, and access governance is an asset.
