About the role
ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:
Our dishwashers play a critical role in the health, safety, and wellbeing of our residents by ensuring our infection and sanitation control measures are maintained in the back of house. Under the direction of the Dining Services Manager or designate, our Dishwashers follow established policies and procedures and assume responsibility for cleanliness of the dietary areas including ware-washing, pot washing and sanitation of the department.
BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of grade 12 education required.
- Prior experience in a dishwashing position is preferred.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, in the English language.
- Dependable, responsible and an ability to work well with others in a team environment and independently. Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence.
- Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment under hot and humid conditions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Participates in and adheres to continuous quality improvement standards.
Cleans dishes, pots, glassware, and cutlery following established sanitation procedures.
Monitors and records the temperature of the dish machine at least twice daily. Reports all deficiencies to the Dining Services Manager or designate.
Ensures correct usage of chemicals in dish machine and pot washing areas. Cleans dish machine and pot washing area thoroughly. Assumes cleaning tasks as per site cleaning schedules.
Maintain and monitor grease trap on dishwashing machine.
Receives, uncrates, and puts away supplier deliveries as required.
Buses dishes in dining room between seatings, as required.
Disposes of all garbage and breaks down cardboard boxes and prepared boxes for re-cycling or disposal.
Ensure cups, teapots and soup bowls are presoaked in proper chemicals to remove stains.
Cleans kitchen, including mopping floor.
Adheres to established department policies, procedures and objectives regarding quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.
Complies with infection control processes and protocols as directed, e.g. outbreak management.
Maintains effective communication, both written and verbal with co-workers, residents and guests including addressing resident concerns during dining service. Uses the appropriate lines of communication
with supervisory staff.
Performs other duties as assigned by Dining Services Manager or delegate.
Complies with all corporate policies and procedures.
Completes all required mandatory training/education.
Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System/Globally Harmonized System. This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills. Participates in the ongoing Fire Prevention, and Pest Control programs and any other programs as required.
