The Mississaugua Golf and Country Club is one of Canada’s top private all-season golf clubs, with a diverse membership of 1,400 members and an outstanding Tier One golf course famous for its excellence. The Club has played host to numerous premier events, including six Canadian Opens.

Founded in 1906, MG&CC is a year round private club that offers golf, curling and tennis, dining, fitness and social amenities. Our Tudor Clubhouse is a spectacular venue for casual and fine dining, banquets, weddings and various social events and functions.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the maintenance, service, documentation, repair and overhaul of all golf-related machinery and equipment. This is a leadership position which requires constant communication with the other members of the leadership team as well as training of all staff members on the proper care and use of equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various golf course maintenance equipment including diesel, electric and gasoline-powered automobiles, trucks, rollers, mowers, and other mechanical equipment used on the golf course.

  • Instructs and/or trains golf course team members regarding preventive maintenance, and the proper cleaning of and safe operation of equipment.

  • Prioritizes equipment repair and maintenance work.

  • Tracks the equipment assets and makes recommendations in the best interests of the club regarding repair versus replacement

  • Responsible for grinding and keeping all equipment in good cutting condition.

  • Maintains a preventive maintenance program within budget on all equipment, and purchases repair parts and replacement supplies.

  • Performs welding, brazing and soldering as required.

  • Keeps a complete set of records for equipment and parts inventory purchases, equipment conditions, costs of repairs and preventive maintenance for all equipment.

  • Make emergency repairs to equipment on the course, and services or supervises servicing of equipment prior to use.

  • Overseeing the shop area maintenance and monthly safety checks.

  • Regulates employees' use of equipment in absence of Golf Course & Property Manager and Associate Superintendent, if needed.

  • Performs other duties as directed by senior management.

  • Performs all work in a safe and cautious manner – must wear PPE and use all machine safety guards at all times.

Requirements

  • Required 5+ years related work experience

  • Experience in safe operation, maintenance, service and repair of electric, gasoline and diesel machinery

  • Must possess a Valid driver’s license

  • Must have working knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment and automotive apparatuses

  • Skilled in the use of a variety of equipment repair tools and the making of various types of mechanical repairs

  • Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance work

  • Must have working knowledge of the theory, care, and operation of internal combustion engines and mowing equipment

  • Knowledge of the operation and repair of gasoline & diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering etc.

  • Knowledge of electricity and its components as it is related to vehicles and machinery

  • Ability to read and understand repair manuals and/or written instructions and/or oral instructions

  • Must have sufficient physical strength and ability to independently and repeatedly lift and carry up to 50lbs, move and push objects weighing up to 75 pounds and to lift, and move and carry objects weighing more than 75 pounds with assistance

  • Standing and walking distances for extended periods of time required

  • Manual dexterity and hand / eye coordination required

  • Strong work ethic – hard working, always available, good attitude

  • Teamwork and cooperation skills

  • Effective communication skills – listening, understanding and responding

  • Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession

  • Constant focus and attention to detail

  • Ability to perform high quality work

  • Commitment to working in a safe manner
