Job Description AltaGas - Sr. Engineer, Operations AltaGas is seeking a Senior Operations Engineer to join our dynamic team supporting the Harmattan Gas Processing Complex. Based out of our Calgary head office with regular field travel 50% of the time, this role blends technical expertise, risk management, and project execution to enhance reliability, efficiency, and safety.
You will:
- Provide hands-on support for troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Align engineering work with long-term plant strategy and performance goals.
- Identify and mitigate operational risks; support incident investigations.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing.
- Drive process optimization and support small capital projects.
- Lead Engineering Work Packages and ensure compliance with MOC processes.
- Collaborate on design reviews, HAZOPs, and commissioning.
- Manage small-scale projects from concept to completion.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and promote a strong safety culture.
- Document lessons learned and contribute to plant standards.
You have:
- Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering (Mechanical/Petroleum considered).
- 8+ years in oil & gas; owner/operator and field experience preferred.
- Professional designation in Alberta (P.Eng., P.L. (Eng.), or P.Tech. (Eng.)).
- Strong knowledge of midstream infrastructure, industry codes (ASME, API, NACE), and tools (Hysys/Promax, PI Vision, Maximo).
- Proficient in Microsoft 365.
- Valid driver’s license; comfortable in industrial environments.
- Strong understanding of EH&S regulations and compliance.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic setting.
