We are looking for an Advisor who will provide analytical insights, conduct root cause analysis, and deliver actionable recommendations to help improve key areas of performance.
This role is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact by transforming data into actionable insights that drive operational excellence. You’ll work at the heart of the value chain, applying advanced analytics, problem-solving, and continuous improvement strategies to influence key business decisions. In addition, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, gain exposure to strategic initiatives, and develop expertise in tools like Power BI, all within a dynamic and safety-focused environment.
Reporting to the Superintendent Value Chain Performance and working in a collaborative community within local team, you will be performing the following duties:
- Embed safety in all aspects
- Drive Rio Tinto standards and procedure
- Provide technical input to decision support for business cases
- Develop production analytics to support the IOC strategy
- Support IOC Improvement Life Cycle initiatives for respective areas
- Apply practical problem solving to drill down on route cause analysis
- Data transformation (Power BI)
- Develop monthly and weekly production reconciliation to target, to produce trends and update forecast to develop the pathway to achieve targets
- Improvement recommendations
- Variance analysis and insights
- Be the first point of contact for data analytics
- Power BI – accuracy
- Develop production analytics to support the IOC strategy
- Attend all collaborative forums on site (e.g. L3, L2 meeting, ILC)
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Relevant Degree in Metallurgy / Engineering/ Information System/Finance
- At least 3 years in production or technical environment at specialist level
- IT literacy
- Highly Analytical and a strong aptitude for modelling with excel, power BI
- Deep understanding of value drivers, and ability to drive fact-based problem solving
- Strong teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to influence multiple stakeholders
- EB driver’s license

We are a leading North American producer and exporter of premium iron ore pellets and high-grade concentrate with average iron grades greater than 66%. With a team of over 2,700 employees, IOC is committed to providing value and continuity for our customers, employees, communities and shareholders through our unique mine to port approach, taking advantage of our full integration and wholly owned infrastructure to deliver our high-quality concentrate and pellets to our customers across the globe.
IOC’s operations include a mine with five operational pits, a concentrator and a pelletizing plant located near Labrador City in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. We also operate a wholly-owned 418 km railway, the Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway.
