The Vice President, Commercial Operations is a strategic and operational leader responsible for driving flawless execution of new product launches from concept to commercialization. This executive will oversee cross-functional launch operations, ensuring alignment between R&I, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Product Development, Quality and Marketing to deliver best-in-class beauty innovations on time, on budget, and at the highest quality standards.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP will serve as a key member of the executive team, shaping launch strategy, optimizing internal processes, and enhancing client satisfaction and speed-to-market in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and lead the end-to-end Product Launch Strategy, aligning with corporate growth objectives and short- and long-term client needs
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to the CEO and executive team, identifying opportunities to enhance launch efficiency, scalability, and profitability
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and operational excellence across the Product Launch Team and cross functional departments
- Oversee the full Product Launch Lifecycle ensuring disciplined project management and cross-functional coordination
- Establish and monitor KPIs related to launch readiness, timelines, cost targets, and client satisfaction
- Identify and mitigate risks impacting launch delivery, proactively implementing contingency plans
New Product Development
- Enable Product Launch Leadership to oversee the end-to-end new product development cycle using our Stage Gate System, starting with discovery, development, testing and validation, launch, and post launch review through collaboration with external partners and internal stakeholders inclusive of Turnkey and over the counter (OTC) products
- Oversee the development of project scope ensuring all critical parameters are captured and aligned with the customer
- Ensure the cross-functional project team achieves target costs, timelines and product attributes to support project conversion
- Develop project plans that cover scope, time, cost, resources, communication, acquisitions, quality, risk management, stakeholder management and integration
- Prioritize and maintain up to date project timelines and project action tracker keeping the Business Development Team members and other key stakeholders informed
- Accountable for overall project execution, including critical decision-making as required
- Produce and maintain accurate data and records related to the projects
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with R&D, Operations, Procurement, Quality, and Commercial teams to streamline workflows and communication
- Oversee the timely execution of the Brief to PO process working with R&I, Procurement, Finance, and the Technical Resource Group (TRG) to create winning formulas that can be scaled and commercialized
- Champion collaboration between client services and manufacturing teams to ensure alignment on innovation briefs, capacity planning, and delivery expectations
- Drive visibility and transparency through structured reporting and executive-level dashboards
- Work in partnership with VP of Sales to maintain the Voice of the Customer and drive flawless customer experience, identify brief opportunities and solicit feedback
Continuous Improvement
- Lead process optimization initiatives to reduce cycle times, improve resource utilization, and enhance overall launch performance
- Evaluate and implement tools, systems, and methodologies to support scalable project management and product development efficiency
- Benchmark against industry best practices to maintain Cosmetica’s position as a leader in innovation and operational agility
Skills, Experience and Education Required:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, or related field; MBA preferred
- Experience: Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience within the cosmetics, personal care manufacturing, and/or consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing industry, with a strong track record of managing complex product launches
- Deep understanding of product development, manufacturing processes, and supply chain dynamics in a fast-paced environment
- Proven success in leading cross-functional teams and driving organizational transformation
- Ability to drive and manage client and stakeholder expectations
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, and passionate about developing talent
- Proficient with Stage Gate System
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a data-driven mindset
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a high-growth, innovation-driven organization
