What Role You Will Play In Our Team Imperial is recruiting for engineering coop students at our fuels refinery and chemical manufacturing facility located in Sarnia, Ontario. Working under the guidance of staff chemical engineers, you will gain an understanding of petrochemical refining processes, process safety controls, and process unit optimization. The role will be to support safe, reliable, and profitable operation of process units.
What You Will Do
- Collaborate with multiple stakeholders including operations, reliability, and automation engineers to support safe and reliable unit operations
- Work with cross-functional teams to identify, develop and implement operational and facility improvements with focus on safety, reliability, economics and sustainability
- Effectively communicate status of unit operation, improvement opportunities and operating costs to various stakeholders
- Participate in risk assessments, root cause investigations, corporate networks and communities of practice
- Own unit mass balance to support energy and cost reporting, as well as annual long term plan development
About You Skills and Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Demonstrated leadership and strong academic skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required for the role
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
- Previous industry experience is considered beneficial, but not essential
- Highly motivated, enthusiastic, results-oriented individuals who are energized by working with people and by achieving superior results
Location: Sarnia, ON
Work Term: 4, 8, 12 and 16 months
Start Date: Jan 2026
