Job Summary:

The Oncology Nurse is responsible for providing holistic cancer care to patients over the spectrum of the oncology experience: assessment, intervention, treatment administration, coordination of care and follow-up in the ambulatory setting. The Oncology Nurse will participate in patient/family education, make pertinent nursing assessments, collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team and provide appropriate interventions. Nursing staff work with cytotoxic and hazardous medications on a regular basis. Personal protective equipment (PPE) and training are provided.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • Current registration with College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) or will be within 6 weeks

  • Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the applicable CCMB policy

  • Knowledge of Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses, Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA)

  • Proficient with computers, software programs and applications such as MS Windows/ Word/Outlook Satisfactory employment record

  • Must be able to legally work in Canada

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Nursing

  • Three (3) years’ experience within settings such as medical/surgical or ambulatory care

  • Knowledge and experience with oncology

  • Experience with electronic charting

  • Ability to speak French

Asset:

  • Certified Oncology Nurse [CON(C)]

  • Knowledge and experience with wound care

  • Knowledge and experience with patients receiving radiation therapy

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development

  • Leadership
