About the role
Whispering Pines Landscaping is seeking a skilled Snow Area Supervisor to lead and coordinate snow and ice management operations during the winter season. This role is critical in keeping our clients’ properties safe, accessible, and well-serviced even in the harshest weather conditions. While most shifts will be overnight, some daytime support and planning will also be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess site and weather conditions to manage client needs 24/7.
- Schedule, lead, and support operators, salters, and shovelers to ensure timely, high-quality snow removal.
- Conduct post-event inspections to confirm services meet contractual standards.
- Respond to service issues and implement solutions to prevent future complaints.
- Arrange for materials and supplies as needed.
- Complete all necessary paperwork (time tracking, WPL app, etc.) accurately and on time.
- Identify equipment issues and collaborate with the Equipment Manager to resolve them.
- Maintain backup plans for emergencies and assist with operations when required.
- Ensure monthly calibration of all salters.
- Assist sales by identifying additional service opportunities to benefit clients and maximize staff hours.

Qualifications
Skills & Knowledge
- Proven leadership with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to train team members in safe, efficient snow maintenance practices.
- Excellent knowledge of industry best practices.
- Willingness to teach and learn from others.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years in snow maintenance.
- Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or lead-hand role.
- Proficient in operating and maintaining loaders, tractors, trucks/plows, and small snow equipment.
- Comfortable using technology and software relevant to snow operations.
Education & Certifications
- Safety and equipment operation certifications (WHMIS, CPR, First Aid, etc.).
- College Diploma, Apprenticeship, CHT, or University degree in Horticulture or Landscape Technology an asset.
Compensation & Benefits
