Description:

Course number and title: JRE420H1 F - People Management and Organizational Behaviour

  • Course description: This module spans three inter-related topics: leadership, people management and organization behaviour. It provides students with both the theory and practice in how to design, lead and manage organizations. Topics include theories of leadership, strategy, ethics, designing organizations for rapid change and differing cultural environments, communication, job design, managing and motivating people, fostering creativity, and team work. In addition to traditional lectures, exercises and case studies will be used throughout.

  • Estimated course enrolment: 216 (32 per section)

  • Number of positions: 2

  • Size of appointment: 1 Head SIA (120 hr) and 1 Regular SIA (100 hr)

  • Scheduled sections: Tuesdays (morning, afternoon or evening)

  • Sessional dates of appointment: September 1 - December 31, 2025

  • Salary: $54.27/hour

  • Preferred qualifications: PhD or Masters with a strong background in organizational behavior and management. Engineering background is an asset, as is previous teaching experience in this or a similar course.

  • Description of duties: SIAs will a) Conduct/debrief role plays; b) assisting individuals or teams with assignments; c) Invigilating assessments, and grading assignments/assessments ; d) attending lecture part during class meeting times ; e) attending preparatory or training sessions; f) communicate with students in response to their inquiries; g) conduct practical sessions; (For Head TA only h) coordinating with other TAs, administrative assistance)
