About the role
Dawson Civil is looking for aCivil Foremanwith a strong background in pipe and earthworks to lead site crews, coordinate daily operations, and ensure high-quality, on-schedule delivery of underground utility and excavation projects.
In this role you will be a valued member ofDawson Civil****,working in a temporary full-time position ofForeman, reporting to theSuperintendent. TheForeman, Civiloversees crews, coordinates equipment, and ensures the precise installation of underground utilities and groundworks to meet project specs and safety standards. Your base location will beKamloops, BCand will require some travel throughout our great province.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- Prioritize safety of self and others in every aspect of the job
- Provide management and direction to crews
- Experienced on all types of heavy equipment
- Attend and participate in all safety meetings and ensure team abides by safety policies on the work site
- Assist in coordinating and conducting training sessions
- Review and adhere to project schedules, ensuring milestones and completion dates are met
- Work with and oversee the performance of all sub-contractors, ensuring that work is completed accurately
- Read and interpret project plans and specifications, and ensure all employees have the information required
- Recommend ways to improve production, quality and crew performance
- Ensure construction meets approved design specifications, drawings, and applicable codes
WHAT YOU BRING
- Must have 5+ years of civil underground utility construction experience.
- Live utility locating experience.
- Expertise with trenching and shoring, and safe excavation procedures.
- Excellent communications skills, both written and oral and strong experience completing field/site paperwork and timesheets.
- Understanding of pipe grades, pipe materials and specifications, fitting and assembly, proper bedding, protection of other services and methods of backfill and compaction.
- Ability to work collaboratively with everyone including customers, operation and project managers, internal crews, and subcontractors.
- Strong job planning/organizational (site and documentation), time management skills and stewardship of all equipment and tools.
