About the role

Leggat Auto Groupis looking for a Talent Acquisition & HR Specialist to join our team!

This is an on site role primarily in Burlington with localized travel. The Talent Acquisition & HR Specialist will work under the direction of the Director People & Culture as part of the HR team in a variety of HR related duties with the foremost focus on recruitment, attraction and retention activities.

The role will work closely with various hiring managers throughout the company to proactively support the full cycle recruitment for all departments include attracting, sourcing, and selecting top-tier talent that aligns with our company values and objectives. The Talent Acquisition & HR Specialist will collaborate closely with hiring managers and department heads to understand their staffing needs and contribute to the overall success of the organization through strategic talent acquisition.

Responsibilities:

Recruitment & Hiring Resource

  • Manage full cycle recruitment process including drafting and posting job ads, pre-screening calls, interview support, conducting background and reference checks; and offer letter preparation
  • Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies to identify and attract qualified candidates, such as utilizing job boards, social media, professional networks, etc.
  • Update and maintain candidate and employee data in the Applicant Tracking System, including any setups and onboarding assignments
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment process to ensure a positive and seamless candidate experience.
  • Helping to enforce and assist as needed for pre-hire requirements to reduce risk and have more success in suitable talent and retention (resume, reference checks, formal background checks)
  • Aiding to prepare offers with employment agreements to current practice and helping to ensure the correct information is included
  • Setting up onboarding and additional relevant training plans for new hires

Career Cycle

  • Monitoring notifications from HR4 and following up on corrections or completions that may be necessary
  • Making employees aware and guiding them to information on how to complete any changes such as; role changes, pay plan, leaves, terminations, etc.
  • Helping with document management to ensure key information is captured properly
  • Supporting payroll team and working effectively to help with cross-over issues

Health and Safety Coordinator

  • Be proactive to identify risks and apply health and safety protocols as applicable (remove, find alternatives, administrative controls, safe work processes, training, PPE)
  • Stay current to standards and requirements in the workplace
  • Drive and support all locations to have active committees and meet regulatory requirements
  • Help identify improvement opportunities from safety incidents
  • Maintain training resources to current needs including the HRIS system to help provide a safe work environment
  • Guide requirements and ensure tools are in place to document safety-related events including WSIB reporting if applicable and claims management
  • Collect information that allows further analysis of trends and data to help drive a safer work environment and focus on key and common areas of risk
  • First Aid and Part II Certification or willingness to acquire

Continual Improvement

  • Supporting projects and initiatives to improve processes in all relevant areas for efficiencies, risk management and a better employee experience
  • Help with the creation of processes, documents and work instructions for employee and manager resources
  • Staying current in area of responsibility with ongoing learning, networking and advanced knowledge in the HR4 system
  • Overseeing platform content such as HR4 and the Leggat Mailbag to communicate and include employees in sharing information, events, activities, milestones and celebrations
  • Event co-ordination, communication and participation with a focus on being a better workplace and adding value to the employee experience

Successful Candidates Possess:

  • Post Secondary education, relevant certificate, designation or equivalent
  • People oriented and results driven with a "can do" attitude
  • Proven working experience and track record relevant to this role
  • Strong knowledge of current recruitment trends, sourcing techniques, and best practices
  • Ideally 2-3 years of direct experience in Talent Acquisition and office admin experience
  • Proficient in using Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), job boards and other recruitment tools and strategies
  • Experience in a similar or comparable industry is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • High level of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism
  • Attention to detail and accuracy conforming to company policies, legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to change focus and prioritize to work on the right things at the right time
  • current valid drivers’ licence to support periodic localized travel
