About the role
Purpose of the Position
Work involving the regular maintenance of the City's motor vehicles and equipment. The work is performed under supervision and according to the procedures in place. The employee receives verbal or written instructions. He or she is mainly responsible for providing the usual services required for the normal operation of vehicles and equipment and for repairing certain minor defects. An employee of higher rank controls the work performed.
Main Responsibilitie
- Occasionally, fills the fuel tank; checks the lubricant level in the crankcase, transmission, and differential; adds oil or replaces used oil with new oil, as needed; greases various moving parts of vehicles and equipment.
- Ensures the proper amount of water is maintained in the radiator, battery, and windshield washer; adds antifreeze to the radiator as necessary.
- Checks tire air pressure; changes tires; repairs and installs snow chains.
- Recharge or change batteries;
- Lubricates all types of vehicles or equipment, both heavy and light: cars, vans, trucks, street sweepers, graders, snowplows, tractors, motor rollers, backhoes, lawnmowers, compressors, pumps.
Education, Qualifications and Experien
- Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS);
- Apprentice mechanic's certificate (Class II);
- Valid driver’s license (Class 3);
- 13 to 18 months of relevant experience.
Hourly rate : $36.88 - 36 hours/week
