Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Manager, Operational Infrastructure, the specialist represents Data Centre in all organizational strategic planning. In addition to being a full resource of the team, the specialist also provides technical and operational leadership to Server-Storage Analyst (PIPSC 3) and / or Server-Storage Support (PIPCS 2) with the planning, development, implementation, configuration, administration, testing, monitoring, reporting, and support of existing and new systems and changes in the areas of Server, Storage, Data Protection, and Security technologies within the scope of Operational Technology (OT).

Key Accountabilities:

  • Conduct server, storage, containerization, and virtualization infrastructure designs sessions for internal clients.
  • Contributes to feature design and delivery, development, testing and implementation of the small-scale infrastructure projects while supporting the CHIP lifecycle and modernization initiatives.
  • Ensures alignment with Strategic roadmap and programs
  • Build relationships with customers, vendors and partners through demonstrated independence, objectivity, and integrity. Engage customers in developing effective problem solutions.
  • Builds collaborative relationships with the rest of the organization and teams within the company, through joint development, testing and implementation sessions.
  • Build strong customer service focus including the ability to develop a client service culture across service delivery teams. Continually optimize production support processes, monitoring, and reporting while providing technical leadership and experience to lead small, distributed teams of technical resources.
  • Review work and activities to ensure objectives, deadlines, and commitments are met and that process is followed.
  • Balance priorities across multiple lifecycle, projects, and support demands within a rapidly changing environment
  • Maintains team backlog, defines, and coaches team to define agile enablers and user stories with sufficient details as per best practices.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Degree from a recognized university or community college with an acceptable specialization in computer, electrical engineering, systems engineering, computer science or information systems or an equivalent combination of Education, Experience and Training.

Experience:

  • 5-8 years of experience in planning, deign, building, and deploying infrastructure solutions and services in a complex/and or enterprise environment

  • Experience in supporting infrastructure systems and related subsystems (hypervisors, storage, servers, etc.

  • Experience in implementing end-to-end Operational Technologies (OT).

  • Experience leading individuals and teams in design, implementation, and lifecycle support in the Operational Technology (OT) environment.

  • Experience providing functional and technical support for software and systems and a strong understanding of the underlying technical and operational environment, processes, and workflows.

  • Experience troubleshooting complex interrelated infrastructure issues in the Operational Technology (OT) environment.

  • Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation, Standards & Procedures (S&Ps), and safety records and activities.

  • Experience developing and maintaining communications related to support, changes, and enhancements to server and storage infrastructure systems.

  • Experience and comfort using Azure DevOps.

Knowledge:

  • Extensive knowledge of the theories, principles, methods, techniques, and practices of OT and operations specifically as it relates to server and storage infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of hyperconverged (HCI) technology.
  • Knowledge of hypervisor technologies (Nutanix HCI, ESXi, RedHat OCP, vCenter, AHV, etc.)
  • Extensive knowledge of industry trends and developments with respect to existing and evolving server and storage technologies, productivity tools, data centre management, and related emerging trends and practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of testing framework from conceptual design to formal testing and acceptance.
  • Extensive knowledge of maintenance and change management processes, procedures, and safety processes as they relate to operational systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of agile practices and experience operating in that fashion.
  • Extensive knowledge of architectural, functional policy, Engineering Quality Management, and Improvement System (T-BMS) framework, and NAV CANADA Safety Management Systems

  • Ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve complex and varied problems on safety critical systems.
  • Ability to implement and configure systems.
  • Ability to provide expert advice, guidance, and opinions in area of specialization, through knowledge sharing, coaching, mentoring, and creative thinking.
  • Ability to lead complex projects as required.
  • Possess excellent analytical skills to assess, test, troubleshoot, determine root cause, and recommend new courses of actions/process improvement.
  • Coach/provide on-the-job instruction or mentoring to peers.
  • Retrospects and learns from own, from team, and from other team’s successes and failures.
  • Agile and comfortable with operating in a dynamic, highly disruptive and fast-paced environment.

Working conditions:

  • This position is a hybrid position with a minimum – 3 day per week on site.

  • Occasional travel required.

  • Carrying a pager on a rotational basis required.
