We are accepting applications for the following 1.0FTE permanent Computer Trainer at the Learning Resource Centre in Clinton, Ontario.

Hours of Work: 40hours per week, 12 months per year

Start Date: As soon as possible

Rate of Pay: $29.12 - $32.23per hour (level 6)as per the OSSTF-ESSP Collective Agreement

Essential Functions and Responsibilities :

Providing district-wide and/or direct School Support as follows:

  • Supporting users of the Student Information System (SIS):
  • Providing technical support and training to SIS users in response to identified difficulties or new processes by communicating electronically and in person with users.
  • Investigating, identifying, documenting and resolving SIS problems.
  • Providing suggestions to optimize the use of the SIS to meet end-user needs (ie. performing queries, running reports, maintaining up-to-date and accurate student enrolment, attendance and achievement records, etc.).
  • Maintaining data integrity of the SIS through training, documentation and auditing of data accuracy throughout the year.
  • Supporting schools with creating and verifying enrolment reports.
  • Supporting teaching staff with the completion of student report cards.
  • Supporting Principals with the building of next year's schedules, report card review and incident reporting.
  • Setting up and maintaining the SIS reporting terms.
  • Supporting end of year rollover of the SIS.
  • Supporting users of School Messenger (SM)
  • Providing technical support and training to SM users including troubleshooting of issues related to creating broadcasts, attendance reporting, Safe Arrival, account creation and notifications.
  • Review and understanding of software updates, including training of school staff.
  • Maintaining and updating documentation for SM.
  • Managing user records, as well as providing technical support to teachers and administrators, for mVAL.
  • Consulting user guides, technical manuals, the software supplier and other resources to research and implement solutions for the SIS and SM.
  • Creation and maintenance of instructional documentation for school staff (clerical, teachers, principals) for use of the SIS and SM.
  • Managing user accounts for the SIS and SM, including access and right to information
  • Provided specialized support for all applications and interfaces within the Student Information System product suite, as well as related parent tools for home notification and reporting of student attendance, to school staff (administrators and teachers) to support data to day operations.
  • Assisting and supporting the creation, uploading and verification of data and batch files for ONSIS submissions.
  • Training of new school-based staff in SIS and SM processes and procedures.
  • Participating as a collaborative team member.
  • Other related duties as required.

The ideal candidates will possess:

  • Completion of one year community college computer technical training program plus up to two years related experience or combination of experience, education and training that is considered equivalent.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the yearly SIS tasks required of an Elementary or Secondary School Office Secretary.
  • Extensive SIS experience, including the creation and verification of enrolment reports, report cards and student transcripts.
  • Proven working knowledge of SIS processes and procedures.
  • Excellent working knowledge of SM and Safe Arrival.
  • Travel, as required, to any site within the system.
  • Some flexibility in work schedule as required in accordance with the ESSP Collective Agreement.
  • Ability to problem-solve, prioritize and multi-task in a busy environment.
  • Ability to learn new software and related technologies.
  • Proven professional, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to work co-operatively in a team environment.
  • Must have a vehicle and a valid driver's licence in good standing.
