Position Description

Manager, Financial Accounting, Reporting & Planning, HSC-Related Entities

We are currently looking for a Manager, Financial Accounting, Reporting & Planning, to join the SickKids Finance Team. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Finance & Transformation, you will oversee the accounting and financial reporting functions for all external entities, including The Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health (CCMH), Kids Health Alliance (KHA) and Boomerang Health. A key accountability of this role is to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality financial reporting and budgeting for business planning and strategic decision-making. You will also be involved in special projects within the Director of Corporate Finance & Transformation portfolio, including report development and process improvements.

Here's What You'll Get To Do:

  • Manage a team of 2 high-performing Senior Financial Analysts, providing mentorship, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Lead and coordinate the month-end reporting cycle, including the review of journal entries, account reconciliations and monthly analysis.
  • Compile monthly financial results and analyze key performance measures and variances to plan.
  • Prepare financial and strategic presentations for Senior Management and the Board.
  • Manage the year-end external audits and external reporting for these entities.
  • In conjunction with management, develop the annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Provide exceptional client service to the Executive Directors, Directors, and management teams to support fiscal planning and strategic management.
  • Maintain an effective system of internal controls, including identification of risk areas and implementation of mitigation strategies.
  • Assess the overall efficiencies of the function, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in and/or lead other special projects and reporting initiatives within the Director of Corporate Finance & Transformation portfolio

Here's What You'll Need:

Essential Requirements

  • Completion of Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
  • Completion of professional accounting designation (i.e. CPA) or equivalent
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in financial accounting and/or auditing
  • Proven experience in team leadership and performance management.
  • Exceptional Excel skills and strong comfort level working with financial systems
  • Strong planning and organizational capabilities
  • Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Strong, adaptable oral and written communications skills.
  • Proven interpersonal skills and commitment to collaborative teamwork.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion objectives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare is an asset.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Adaptive, and Qlikview will be an asset.
