We’re seeking a Wire Harness Design Engineer to join our spacecraft engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design, routing, integration, and verification of spacecraft harnessing systems that enable connectivity across power, avionics, RF, and payload subsystems. You will use CAD tools extensively to define harness construction, model routing paths, optimize integration with spacecraft structures, and ensure robust electrical connectivity for our growing spacecraft fleet.

If you’re excited to design the systems that power spacecraft and enable global connectivity, we’d love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain harnessing standards and best practices, ensuring alignment with program and production needs
  • Own the design and development of spacecraft harnessing, from concept to flight, collaborating closely with engineering and manufacturing teams
  • Design harness routing in CAD with a focus on assemblability and integration
  • Perform harness and connector analyses, including sizing, shielding, and derating, to ensure robust operation in space environments
  • Produce wiring diagrams, harness assembly drawings, and bills of material
  • Apply DFM/DFA principles to optimize harnesses for manufacturing, and provide support during production and integration as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in harnessing design (aerospace, automotive, robotics, or other high-vibration environments preferred)
  • Strong proficiency with CAD tools for electrical/mechanical routing, harness modeling and assembly drawings (e.g., Onshape, Solidworks, Altium Designer or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of wires, shielding, and harness assembly standards (e.g. IPC/WHMA-A-620)
  • Hands-on experience with harness assembly, routing, and integration in a lab or production environment
  • Proven ability to deliver robust designs under tight development schedules

Bonus Points:

  • Supplier management and harness procurement experience
  • Familiarity with scalable production techniques for harness manufacturing
  • Knowledge of space effects and mitigation in wiring/connectors for LEO operations
  • Experience performing vibration analysis and test correlation for harnessing and related structures
  • Familiarity with RF and/or optical cables and their routing requirements
  • Exposure to PDM / PLM tools for bill of material management and configuration control
