In this new executive leadership role, the General Manager, Electrical Division, is responsible for driving the customer service and sales strategy for the electrical division. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, this role provides both strategic and operational leadership, focused on expanding market share through product selection, competitive pricing, and exceptional customer service.
The GM, Electrical Division is responsible and accountable for leading the profitable growth and expansion of ROBINSON’s electrical division. Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute product, sales, and customer experience strategies to position the electrical division for sustainable growth.
- Sales Growth: Establish and achieve sales targets to increase wallet share and expand overall market presence with both existing and prospective customers.
- Customer Experience: Define and oversee customer service standards and processes to ensure a consistent, exceptional experience at every touchpoint.
- Vendor Partnerships: Build and maintain strong relationships with key electrical vendors and suppliers to drive collaboration, strengthen partnerships, and enhance business outcomes.
- Inventory Optimization: Partner with procurement and purchasing teams to plan, forecast, and optimize regional and local inventory needs.
- Market Insight: Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities to proactively position the division for long-term success.
- Growth & Expansion: Lead opportunities for growth through new vendors, product lines, and market expansion initiatives.
- Executive Collaboration: As part of the executive leadership team, assist in establishing long-term strategic objectives and lead the successful execution of key business initiatives.
- Team Development: Foster a high-performance culture by setting clear expectations, providing coaching and feedback, and supporting career development and succession planning.
- Financial Accountability: Oversee the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow for the electrical division to ensure profitable, sustainable growth.
Background & Qualifications
10+ years leading a business unit or division, with success developing and executing strategies that drive profitable growth. Senior leadership experience in wholesale distribution is required; experience with electrical products is an asset
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in business management, sales, or related field.
- Exceptional relationship-builder with strong executive presence and communication skills, able to engage stakeholders at all levels and leverage partnerships to deliver growth and competitive advantage
- Demonstrated success building and leading high-performing teams, fostering accountability, collaboration and results.
- Proven experience leading complex organizational change initiatives, with working knowledge of project management methodologies.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently to meet with customers, vendors and regional teams.
This position is ideally based in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
