Position Summary:
South Country Co-op is seeking a customer-focused and team-oriented Gas Bar Supervisor to join our team at the Northlands Gas Bar in Medicine Hat, AB. Reporting to the Gas Bar/C-Store Manager, the Gas Bar Supervisor plays a key supervisory role in ensuring smooth daily operations, delivering exceptional customer service, and supporting a high-performing team.
This position is responsible for assisting in sales, inventory control, merchandising, administrative tasks, and Gas Bar standards. The Supervisor will also perform the duties of a Gas Bar Attendant, including fueling support, operating the POS system, stocking, and ensuring a clean and safe environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide world-class customer service to all guests
- Supervise daily operations of the Gas Bar, supporting the Gas Bar Manager
- Assist in inventory control, placing orders, and receiving shipments
- Operate POS systems and handle cash, debit, and credit transactions accurately
- Help with merchandising, stocking, and maintaining clean, organized displays
- Maintain cleanliness of the Gas Bar, fuel pumps, car wash, and propane station
- Support the training and onboarding of new team members
- Ensure all operations follow Co-op policies and safety procedures
- Perform duties of a Gas Bar Attendant as required
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly and professionally
- Educate customers on the benefits of membership in South Country Co-op
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Minimum 2 years of retail experience, ideally in a convenience or gas station setting
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions and lift up to 30 lbs frequently, and 50 lbs occasionally
- Strong numeracy skills and ability to operate calculators, POS terminals, and registers
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- High level of integrity and professionalism
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to lead and work in a diverse team environment
- Flexible, adaptable, and willing to learn in a fast-paced setting
- Proven leadership skills with a focus on team engagement and motivation
Work Schedule:
This position requires full availability, including days, evenings, and weekends.
