Main Purpose of Job:

The Regional Winter Supervisor oversees a specified region (West or East) and ensures that efficient and safe snow operations are executed within their region. This role is the primary point of contact for staff and management for all questions and concerns before, during, and after snow events for their region.

Reports to:

Snow Division Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • They must be familiar with all sites in their region so they can best support their team with operational decision-making

  • Responsible for ensuring their crews submit timely and accurate timesheets and reports, and that their crew uses the required apps to complete their projects

  • Responsible for approving all timesheets for dispatched events within their region

  • Accurately track all tardiness and absenteeism in BambooHR for all members of their team

  • Arrive before their crew members' arrivals to ensure an efficient and well-managed rollout

  • Communicate with and mobilize staff for the region/division ahead of the snow event by phone, text, or Slack, as per the Division Manager’s instructions

  • Verify with operators and crew leads that they have what they need for their shift prior to them leaving the yard

  • Ensure assigned routes are completed effectively and efficiently

  • Work closely with their designated teams throughout the entire snow event to provide support and help mitigate challenges and conflicts caused by breakdowns and other unforeseen events

  • Operate snow removal equipment safely and train employees on equipment as necessary

  • Monitor salt piles and communicate with management when more salt is needed

  • Ensure all staff have access to proper equipment and are wearing PPE

  • Communicate client issues from property managers/customers to their team

  • Communicate equipment issues to the Fleet Manager

  • Coordinate start times for salt runs with crews and operators after properties have been plowed

  • Provide performance feedback to the Division Manager and HR. Coach and mentor employees

  • Audit properties post snow event to ensure they meet Wild Ridge quality standards and communicate opportunities for extras, such as the need for removals or relocations, to management

  • Assist crews and mobilize teams to assist other regions as needed if they have completed their area early, by staying in contact with the other Regional Supervisor

  • Communicate with the daytime manager and division manager any items that need daytime attention to ensure a seamless handoff for daytime operations

  • Other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma

  • Valid G Driver’s License and Clean Driver’s Abstract

  • Experience driving a truck with a trailer in poor weather conditions

  • Capable of safely operating a truck with a plow blade, skid steer, compact and full-sized loader, shovels, buckets, and snow blowers.

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Previous experience working in the field during the snow season

  • Previous supervisory experience

  • Safety conscious

  • Reliable and have an excellent attendance record

  • Basic computer skills

  • On-call 24/7 availability during the snow season

Working Conditions:

  • Employees will be asked to work in mild to very cold weather conditions. This may include icy roads and stormy skies.

  • In all seasons, employees need to be prepared to be asked to work in rainy conditions and to bring appropriate gear such as rain jackets.

  • Crew members can expect to occasionally be exposed to chemicals such as gasoline and lubricants.

Physical Requirements:

  • Can expect to be asked to lift up to 50 lbs.

Motion Parameters

  • Crew members can expect to be on their feet for long periods of time. The job requires walking, bending, and repetitive lifting.
