INTRODUCTION:
Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well-being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.
We are currently seeking a Commissionaire to join our growing team.

WHAT OUR EXCEPTIONAL COMMISSIONAIRES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct thorough and timely shift briefings and debriefings to ensure effective communication and operational continuity.
-
Coordinate extra duties and special assignments with Security personnel.
-
Review and audit sign-in logs, security reports, key control records, receiving logs, equipment logs, and notebooks for accuracy; address discrepancies directly with the Security team.
-
Supervise and guide shift operations, including oversight of decisions made during the shift.
-
Prepare, review, and approve incident and activity reports submitted by on-duty personnel.
-
Follow up on incident reports and conduct initial investigations as required.
-
Monitor and report any discrepancies in posted schedules, ensuring timely resolution.
-
Ensure all on-duty staff maintain complete and professional guard attire.
-
Perform reception, control operator, and patrol guard duties as needed to support operational coverage.
-
Actively participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee to promote workplace safety at AMD.
-
Manage staffing coverage in response to late book-offs or early departures, while minimizing overtime.
-
Assist in the training and onboarding of new hires, ensuring readiness and compliance.
-
Maintain a high standard of performance, with a minimum 95% average on evaluations.
-
Complete and submit daily, weekly, and monthly tasks as assigned by the Contract Manager (CM) or client.
-
Distribute and ensure completion of AMD Contractor onboarding packages for new staff.
-
Uphold client expectations regarding staff professionalism, performance, and deportment.
-
Conduct performance assessments of Security staff for mandatory reviews and continuous improvement.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Safeguard company personnel, assets, proprietary information, and facilities in accordance with site policies and procedures.

Maintain open communication with the Contract Manager, including relaying relevant information to client representatives.

Represent and promote core values and customer service standards of both the contracted company and AMD.

Ontario Secondary School Diploma

*MUST* Ontario Security Guard License

*MUST* Valid First Aid and CPR certificate

Good Computer skills especially with MS Office suite and ability to learn to use Security management and CRM software.

Ability to stand/sit/walk for long periods of time

Ability to complete frequent patrols

Ability to speak/read/communicate in English (fluently), ability to speak French is consider an asset
