Production Engineer / Engineering Technologist (Temporary) Location: Toronto, ON Job Type: Temporary (Employee Leave Coverage) Industry: Medical Devices | Manufacturing | Engineering About the Role We are seeking a Production Engineer / Engineering Technologist to join our team on a temporary basis to support production during an employee leave. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineering professional with experience in manufacturing, medical devices, or precision electro-mechanical systems. In this role, you will assist with the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and continuous improvement of advanced medical imaging equipment while working closely with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams. Key Responsibilities Assemble and integrate electro-mechanical, optical, and electronic systems. Perform system testing, troubleshooting, calibration, and final verification before shipment. Install and configure embedded software and production systems. Support prototype builds and new product introduction (NPI) activities. Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), work instructions, and production documentation. Assist with Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and production updates. Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and optical issues. Participate in root cause analysis, CAPA investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain production records, Device History Records (DHRs), and traceability documentation. Support incoming inspection, inventory management, and material organization. Collaborate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, R&D, and Operations to improve manufacturing processes. QualificationsRequired Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline. Minimum 3 years of experience in production engineering, manufacturing, or engineering technologist roles. Hands-on experience assembling and troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical systems. Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, and assembly documentation. Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting skills. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Preferred Experience in medical device manufacturing. Knowledge of ISO 13485, FDA Quality System Regulations, or other regulated manufacturing environments. Experience with soldering, optical alignment, calibration, and functional testing. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and BOM management. Experience supporting ECOs, CAPA, and non-conformance processes. Exposure to embedded systems or medical imaging devices is considered an asset.
