Fort Garry Industries has an exciting opportunity for an Inventory Management Specialist (Buyer) to join our team at our Corporate head office in Winnipeg.

What you will do:

  • Oversee, prepare, and process all branch purchase orders
  • Monitor demand trends and adjust stocking levels for seasonality, sales variations, and competitive changes
  • Review critical inventory reports daily to prevent stockouts and expedite orders when necessary
  • Collaborate with category management to source substitutions and address supply chain issues
  • Communicate promptly with stakeholders regarding supplier ETA changes or delivery delays
  • Investigate and resolve inventory shortages, discrepancies, and obsolete stock issues
  • Maintain target inventory fill rates while minimizing overstock
  • Lead branch meetings and participate in supply chain calls to share updates and improvement initiatives
  • Other duties as needed

What We Require:

  • 2+ years of working experience in inventory control procedures, supply chain management, warehousing, or purchasing
  • Post-secondary education in supply chain management
  • Excellent customer service skills – dedicated to exceeding the expectations of internal and external customers
  • Strong written and verbal skills – ability to write and speak succinctly with customers, suppliers, and colleagues
  • Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Previous experience in a distribution environment preferred and/or inventory-based software and systems
  • Heavy-duty parts knowledge or background is an asset
