The Hybrid Cloud Solution Architect will join the team that designs, builds and operates Siemens Healthineers’ global Multi-Cloud (Microsoft Azure & AWS) and onpremises environments. This role has two core focuses: architecting scalable, secure platforms for AI and HighPerformance Computing (HPC) workloads and designing robust general cloud infrastructure architectures to support enterprise applications and services.

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience and a general overview of Cloud and On-premises IT architecture, software implementation, automation, quality assurance, monitoring and maintaining services with various underlying dependencies. Close collaboration with business teams to understand requirements and translate them into performant and reliable cloud solutions is key to this position.

This role has two core focuses: architecting scalable, secure platforms for AI and High-Performance Computing (HPC) workloads and designing robust general cloud infrastructure architectures to support enterprise applications and services.

Close collaboration with business teams to understand requirements and translate them into performant and reliable cloud solutions is key to this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build and maintain cloud systems on Azure and AWS using all available services with a focus on PaaS, while also architecting platforms and reference architectures specifically for AI and High-Performance Computing (HPC) workloads.

  • Build solutions that provide availability, performance and stability in our systems, services and products at scale, including support for largescale model training, inference, and HPC simulations.

  • Work in conjunction with our demand teams, data science/HPC teams and business users to understand functionality, scalability, performance, security and integration requirements for both application and AI/HPC use cases.

  • Propose architectures using native Azure/AWS services, automation and serverless technology in a complex multitenant environment; include GPU/accelerator provisioning, distributed compute patterns, storage tiering and high throughput/low latency networking when required for AI/HPC.

  • Collaborate within the organization to build secure IaaS, PaaS and SaaS environments in Azure and AWS that also accommodate AI/HPC operational requirements.

  • Define migration solutions for existing on prem hosted software development processes (CI/CD landscapes), including pipelines and practices for ML model lifecycle (training, validation, deployment) and reproducible HPC workflows.

  • Understand Siemens Healthineers information security requirements and drive adherence for cloud workloads, applying specific controls and governance needed for sensitive data used in AI and HPC workloads.

  • Develop and maintain documentation for built Azure/AWS systems and procedures, and include runbooks, capacity planning guidance and tuning tips for AI/HPC jobs and large data pipelines.

  • Craft and evangelize secure cloud platform and product requirements, incorporating cost management and performance optimization strategies for compute intensive workloads.

  • Embrace a culture of continuous service improvement and service excellence, with regular reviews of platform performance, cost and reliability.

  • Stay current on cloud industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Overall 10+ years’ experience in cloud technologies (Azure & AWS), with the most recent 3 years on AI & HPC services

  • Proven experience designing hybrid cloud architectures for AI/ML and High-Performance Computing (HPC) use cases

  • Experience implementing enterprise‐grade cloud solutions, including hybrid integration with on-premises compute and storage

  • Strong knowledge of cloud networking and application security, infrastructure hardening, security baselines, web server and database security

  • Knowledge of Azure and AWS Cloud security strategies, tools and compliance frameworks, with the ability to apply IAM, encryption and network segmentation to compute-intensive workloads

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively on status, progress and risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

  • AWS Cloud Architect and Azure Solutions Architect Expert certifications preferred; additional AI or security certifications are a plus

  • Knowledge of large-scale software development and CI/CD processes, including ML model CI/CD and reproducible workflows, is a plus

  • Demonstrated experience building reliable, scalable, secure, data-driven process automation for compliance, operationalization and lifecycle management of cloud workloads

The expected Compensation for this position is: $104,000 - $150,000 CAD

Factors which may affect starting compensation within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
