SEEDis a pioneering group within Electronic Arts, combining creativity with applied research. We explore, build, and help define the future of interactive entertainment.

We exist at EA to deliver and foster inspiring innovation for our games and our players. We do this through exploration, research, prototypes, and never-ending curiosity. We collaborate with game teams and industry partners and also publish our research within our industry and to the public. We pursue long-term applied research yet stay relevant to the present by delivering artifacts along the way to game teams and technology groups inside EA. Some of our research includes bringing digital characters to life, using machine learning for game AI and content creation, and developing novel real-time graphics & physics techniques.

We are looking for an Academic Partnerships Manager, reporting directly to the Head of Research. You will support an evolving team by managing SEED's academic partnerships, strengthening relationships with research institutions, and building scalable programmes that connect academia with EA teams. You will work in close collaboration with external academia and institutional partners, studio teams, legal, communications, and finance. You will help shape how EA collaborates with leading universities and research institutions, enabling groundbreaking research and creating pathways for new talent to contribute to the future of games.

This is a 12-month temporary full-time role based in Montréal (Québec) with a hybrid work model (3 days per week in the office).

Responsibilities:

As an Academic Partnerships Manager at SEED, you will:

  • Cultivate long-term NA/EU academic and research partnerships.
  • Oversee internships from recruitment to conversion.
  • Support the engagement strategy for academic partners.
  • Facilitate sponsored research, grants, and knowledge exchange.
  • Navigate company partners (Legal, Finance, Tax) for execution of international research agreements.
  • Track impact metrics, including publications and intern conversions.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in a similar role (University Relations, Research Operations, or Program Management).
  • Demonstrated experience from complex, multi-partner R&D projects from launch to publication.
  • Experience working with universities, research labs, or academic institutions
  • Program or partnership management experience
  • Familiarity with research funding, grants, or academic collaboration models
