3-5 hours per week, Tuesdays
Term effective date to be determined to June 30, 2026
Job Summary:
This community program for prenatal and new parents, and their children, requires a general assistant. This position is an integral component of our community-based drop-in program. The individual will be energetic, love working with young children, work well in a team environment and be respectful of young parents’ strengths and challenges.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Be flexible and work closely with the site team under the direction of the coordinator. This will include assisting with:

Site set up, meal preparation, child minding and cleanup

Providing a fun and positive environment for the parents and children

Maintaining an orderly, safe, and clean environment
-
Other site duties as assigned
Future duties may include additional hours as needed and agreed upon to assist the coordinator with programming.
This may include:

Networking and/or attending meetings and reporting back to coordinator

Supporting young parents in accessing other community services/programs
-
Assisting parents with credit course work as directed by the coordinator

Preparing resources for programming
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
-
Training and/or experience in related areas
-
Enjoy working with children and teenagers
-
A food Handlers certificate and CPR training are considered assets
-
Upon hire, external applicants must supply a Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Search, and a cleared Child Abuse Registry Check, as conditions of employment.

Physical demands:
- Able to work in an active physical environment that may require sitting, standing, bending, crouching, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, etc.
Working conditions:
- Exposure to frequent interruptions with conflicting demands and varied deadlines
