About the role

Job Details

Description What the role is about: You have a constant desire to learn and improve your skills while building and maintaining the snow venues at WinSport. You will be a member of the team responsible for the snowmaking and the safe building and maintenance of our world-class snow venues at Canada Olympic Park.   • Fall snowmaking setup including transferring guns and hose onto the different snow venues
  • Set up and take down of all snowmaking equipment during the snowmaking portion of the season
  • Maintain snowmaking equipment including hydrants, stick guns, fan guns, gun bases and hoses
  • Safe operation of snowmobiles on the ski hill
  • Maintain snow venues for day to day operations.
  • Rake and dye takeoffs and landings in the terrain park
  • Dye Halfpipe
  • Chop moguls landings
  • Setup fence, ribbon line and B net
  • Work with the snowcat drivers to install, rebuild or modify terrain park features for public use and competition ski hill specification
  • Setup and repair safety equipment on the winter snow venues and terrain park features
  • Competition/Event setup and takedown on all snow venues

What You Bring

  • Intermediate to advanced level skier or snowboarder with own equipment

  • 1 – 2 years' experience in a manual labour role considered an asset

  • Flexible schedule to meet the demands of the snow venues

  • Day, Evening, Night, weekend snowmaking

  • Day, Evening, Night, Weekend trail crew

  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment in outdoor winter weather conditions

  • Strong communication skills

  • Class 5 drivers license and a clean drivers abstract

  • A love for the great outdoors

You Will Be

  • Consistently and continuously crouching and bending
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling objects between 25lbs to 50lbs
  • Working in extreme weather conditions-cold, windy, snow environments
  • Have the ability to maintain stamina for extended periods
  • Manipulating and gripping power tools
  • Be outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Working 8 hour shifts that will start at 7am, 3pm or 11pm
  • Working 32-40 hours per week
  • Having a fabulous time with a super fantastic team

The Bill Warren Training Centre (BWTC) opened in January 1994. The facility provides fitness training and support services to Nordic athletes and the public. The BWTC is located at the Canmore Nordic Centre. It was the host site of the cross-country skiing and biathlon events at the 1988 Olympic Winter Games.
