As a Senior Associate in our Mergers & Acquisitions team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the deal team with financial and commercial analysis of businesses and reporting on key findings and insights to assist clients throughout the transaction process

  • Supporting in the execution of sell-side and buy-side engagements for privately-owned and investor-backed companies in the middle market

  • Assisting in the drafting and preparing of Confidential Information Memorandums and other transaction documentation (such as teasers, strategic and financial buyers list, financial models, financial forecasts and analysis reports, industry insights and analysis reports, proposals etc.)

  • Assisting with the preparation of complex financial models for the purposes of sourcing and obtaining financing support, forecasting future business operations, and projecting potential shareholder returns, deal feasibility, and indicative valuation and structuring terms

  • Conducting detailed industry research relating to transaction preparation, financial modelling, pricing analysis, and strategic review engagements

  • Leveraging commercial expertise to identify potential business issues and apply technical knowledge appropriately to provide support for the deal team toward closing successful transactions for clients

  • Participating in various business development initiatives (internal and external) including industry research and drafting of proposals, identifying potential prospects, as well as attending various business development events in the deals / corporate finance / professional community

  • Being a key part of our team, supporting with all aspects of corporate finance related engagements, as needed

Think you’ve got what it takes to be a Senior Associate, Transactions? Like the colour purple? Great. Here's a few more boxes we’re also hoping you can tick:

  • A CPA designation or close to achieving a CPA designation (have achieved all assurance & tax hours). CBV designation or equivalent an asset
  • 2-3 years’ experience involving analysis of financial statements or other financial information, including financial modelling with Excel
  • Undergraduate degree in business with a concentration in finance or accounting
  • Proven track record of high academic achievement
  • High proficiency with MS Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with advanced Excel skills for financial modelling purposes
  • Detail oriented in working with large data sets and through reconciliations and preparation of financial information
  • Strong business acumen
  • Strong business writing and communication skills
  • Experience with industry standard accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Oracle, etc.) and data analytic tools (MS Power BI, Tableau) would be considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently, yet works comfortably as part of a larger team
  • Possesses confidence, ability and initiative to support the development of external relationships through networking and meeting with all levels of management and centres of influence
