**Position Purpose:**The Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy, fundraising partner to your Toronto Zoo, inspires giving to advance education, animal care, and conservation science. We’re seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative seasonal Fundraising & Engagement Associate to join our development team.
The Fundraising & Engagement Assistant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy.
This new team member will support ongoing communications activities, helping to build external and internal awareness of the TZWC to stakeholders and the general public. They will also support the development and implementation of the social media program gathering content. They will support donor recognition, tours and events hosted by TZWC. This new role will provide ongoing support to wider TZWC team as needed. This position will assist and provide support in implementing the Toronto Zoo Strategic Plan.
##Core Role Responsibilities:
- Support our Adopt an Animal program, through package fulfillment.
- Support the team with graphic design needs as required.
- Collect photos and video content for upcoming projects. This also includes creating animal enrichment opportunities for various photo opportunities.
- Assist with donor inquiries by phone and the Wildlife Conservancy general email.
- Assist with incoming gift in kind inquiries and third party/community-based fundraising initiatives.
- Assist with other onsite duties such as our donor recognition program, onsite signage and Wild Walk program.
- Inventory and maintain onsite fundraising initiatives such as our coinbox and wishing well program.
- Support onsite events such as donor tours, donor stewardship events, onsite fundraising events.
- Supports Conservancy office/staff with phones, donor inquiries, accepting and processing of donations etc. inputting information into database.
- Support with prospect research as necessary.
- Represent the Wildlife Conservancy at offsite events with other members of wider Toronto Zoo team.
- Digitize historical files.
- Coordinates outreach material for Board, Staff, Toronto Zoo and external audiences.
- Provides temporary backup support to other team members by assisting with assigned duties and responsibilities as needed.
- Follows all policies and branch instructions.
- Attends appropriate training as required.
- Perform general administrative and operations-based tasks as deemed necessary by the Manager of Annual Giving and Engagement.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Manager of Annual Giving and Engagement and Executive Director.
##Technical Knowledge and Skills:
- Working towards a post-secondary education; preferably in the field of fundraising, communications/marketing and/or non-profit administration; or the equivalent amount of experience and training.
- Must have proven, exceptional, interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of and ability to use basic office equipment and proficient with computer programs including Microsoft Office, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.
- Knowledge of and ability to use basic graphic design programs such as Canva.
- Proven writing skills and a strong attention to detail to allow for the preparation of resource materials, newsletters, correspondence, and concise but accurate reports.
- Ability and willingness to work shifts, weekends, evenings and holidays.
- Must be able to work independently and take initiative.
- Must possess the ability to use sound judgement and maintain confidentiality.
- Must be capable of performing the physical demands of the job.
- Valid Class-G Ontario driver’s license in good standing is required.
- Experience with photography and videography in a professional context is considered an asset.
- Must be able to work a variety of shifts including weekdays, afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays.
