Overview:
Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is actively hiring for Senior Analyst, Fundamentals and Trading Analytics to join the team. This position reports to the Director, Trading & Fundamentals in the Marketing Unit, part of Pembina’s Marketing Strategy Division.
The successful candidate will provide support to Pembina’s trading and commercial teams by developing short-term market analytics across multiple commodities. This role will provide backup to the financial trader and build tools and insights that enhance trading decisions and market responsiveness.
Pembina undertakes value-added commodity marketing activities including buying and selling products (natural gas, ethane, propane, butane, condensate and crude oil) and capitalizing on arbitrage opportunities. By contracting capacity on Pembina's and various third-party pipelines and utilizing the Company's rail fleet and rail logistics capabilities, the Marketing business is able to add incremental value to commodities for Pembina and the WCSB. Marketing activities also include identifying commercial opportunities to further develop other Pembina assets.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
- Develop and maintain short-term supply/demand and pricing models across gas, NGLs, and crude;
- Provide real-time market analysis and trading support;
- Integrate third-party data and proprietary intelligence into trading dashboards;
- Collaborate with traders, marketers, and schedulers to align analytics with commercial needs;
- Support the development of Pembina’s House View with short-term insights;
- Develop new tools to automate the dissemination of information across the organization;
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to support trading and marketing decisions;
- Analyze infrastructure developments, producer behavior, regulatory trends, and regional supply/demand shifts;
- Collaborate with Gas/NGL & Crude teams to ensure alignment between market views and commercial positioning;
- Support the annual strategy planning cycle, including Board materials, Offsite sessions, and Long-Range Plan inputs;
- Provide timely insights to support hedging strategies, cash flow forecasting, and risk management;
- Engage with internal stakeholders to align market views with commercial and strategic priorities;
- Develop forecasting models, scenario analysis and market outlook tools;
- Support ad hoc analysis requests from trading, operations, and finance teams;
- Support the financial trading short term trading analytics;
- Provide back-up to the Financial Trader for holiday coverage and succession planning;

Qualifications:
Education:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Economics, Business Administration or Commerce, or another quantitative discipline. Possess or working towards advanced education (CFA, MBA) is preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in energy trading analytics, market fundamentals, or commercial roles in the energy sector;
- Experience developing short-term supply/demand and pricing models across commodities (gas, NGLs, crude); and
- Exposure to trading environments and understanding of hedging, risk management, and cash flow forecasting.
Technical Skills:
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills; proficiency in Excel, Python, SQL, or similar tools;
- Experience with data visualization and automation platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau);
- Excellent research capability, financial modeling, and presentation capabilities; and
- Experience working with third-party data providers (e.g., Wood Mackenzie, S&P Global, Enervus, Rystad, Energy Aspects, etc.) and integration into dashboards.
Market Knowledge:
- Solid understanding of North American energy markets and infrastructure, with a focus on market fundamentals in the WCSB and global energy markets, quantitative or statistical modeling, research and analysis and specific knowledge of natural gas, NGL’s and crude markets, commodity pricing, and international energy fundamentals; and
- Ability to interpret short-term market drivers such as weather, storage, outages, and geopolitical events.
Communications and Collaboration:
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with traders, marketers, schedulers, and cross-functional teams;
- Ability to tailor insights to different audiences and present findings clearly; and
- Outstanding stakeholder engagement skills, communication and organizational skill.
